Terramite T5C
I ordered seal kits for my 2006 T5C Terramite backhoe/tractor. ....1 1/8 inch and 1 1/4 inch for bucket and backhoe..... The question I have is about the kits that were shipped to me as they came with a number of thin copper rods (4 or 5 inches long) that play some role in the re-builld of these cylinders. The only reference that I could find online was they were called "copper styles". Other than that, I can't find any instructions that reference these copper rods in the re-build process.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

When you remove the cap you'll see a groove that has a piece of wire in it that holds the assembly in the cylinder. That piece of copper goes in that groove. Go to 1:55 in this video, the guy talks about it.

I believe the technical term is metal thingy that goes in the groove. Maybe it's called a style if that's what's on the parts list, but I never heard that before. The hard part is getting the old one out. There should be a short piece of the rod bent over that you can straighten and use to pull the old rod out as you rotate the cap.

Thanks again, started me on the right path to find other posts and "how to" videos. More of a carpentry guru, but trying to fine tune some of my mechanical skills as my 2006 Terramite needs some attention, cylinders, steering leak issues...still runs fine, but want to stay ahead on repairs so it stays that way.
