I am posting two pictures of the front 'hub' on a ford 1720 4 wd. Both sides started leaking oil from the 'seals'. Thanks to a previous poster, I was easily able to disassemble it.
I now see how it works.
My question is in the first pic with the shaft showing the largest outside 'rod' are there more seals on that one or just the one single one thats shown in the second picture? The second shaft is the one the bearing runs on, and the third inside one is the 'drive' shaft with spline to it.
any explanation on what seals what is sure welcome.I thought this seal seperated the oil from the axle and the final reduction gears? Or do the mix and the seal seals it from going out the shaft?
Thanks so much,
Al
