Hi Guys,
I posted this earlier in the wrong spot. We have a new tiltmeter designed to
use on the blade of a dozer or grader. It mounts with heavy magnets, and
I have 2 left that read in percent, and one left in degrees.
You may remember, we have asked TBN members for their input on some of
our meters. Found the best testers are the ones in the field that actually
use them. They are designed for road crowning, and or precision leveling, etc.
Too small a scale (10 degrees, or 18%) for rollover use. We will supply the
meters free, and you may keep them after testing. We only ask that you give
them a fair trial, and post your comments here for all to see. Good or bad,
we appreciate your input.
Please e-mail me at RandBMfgInc@worldnet.att.net
if you would like to test one. Specify degrees or percent. The first to respond
will get them. Include your address. We did the same thing this morning on a new
lighted meter that can be used at night, and all were spoken for in less that an
hour, so hurry!
Thanks in advance.

Did you find any volunteers?

I have a Case 1550 dozer that I've been day dreaming about creating a way to measure the side to side angle of my blade. If the dozer is already flat and level at the tracks, then I can keep the blade flat, but if I'm not on a flat surface, it's really tricky to figure out how much angle to put on the blade.

My thought is to just weld on a piece of iron and bend it over so that a string or plumb bob would be visable from the seat. I could look at it and sort of mark it somehow to know when the blade is perfectly flat and level, regardless of what angle the dozer is at.

I've been doing some grading also and thought it would be nice to have some sort of blade gauge

:D
You sent me one of the degree type about 2 weeks ago for my dozer. It works great for grading house pads and general leveling. The major problem I have is that it needs the magnets to be on the bottom so that it will stand up in vertical position. I use mine on top of my dash panel and the only way to see it is to stand it up, but your magnet only covers the solid back part. My only remedy is to mount a piece of angle to my dash to make the meter stand vertical.:( Other than that it is a very handy tool for anyone doing grading or leveling type of work.:) I thank you very much for the chance to try it and will and have shown it to a lot of other equipment operators around here. It would really help tho if you could make it so that it will stand up in a vertical position.
Again, thanks and all the best to you guys!!:) By the way, I got it within 3 days of replying to your post here! Really fast and didn't expect that kind of service for something that was free and to test!!

Thanks again,

Eddie,

Have you considered a water level. Ten ft of hose with clear tubing on each side marked off for level, bolted to your blade. Then mark the clear tube in increments for degrees of inclination. You could do something with electronics also. It could beep/light up when you are at a preset angle. Something like those water detectors.
