Testing The TC18

I hear ya, we had another 4-5 last night. Even with a snowblower it takes a disciplined mind to keep the driveway at it's original width. I'm thinking I'll get the 790 out again tonight and do some bank cleanup work. My wife called yesterday to say there was something in the neighborhood that made our tractor look puny... turned out to be a county front loader (Cat). They did the culdesacs, but have yet to really plow the roads. Of course, the road in front of our house is nicely cleared /w3tcompact/icons/tongue.gif I was reluctant to get out the 790 last night as it was pretty cold. I've been paranoid about fuel gelling, though no one I've talked to around here has ever had a problem.

Still lot's of schools closed here. Ours are running 2 hour delay mostly due to the busses having trouble in the subs. Not a problem for us, our oldest is in PM kindergarten.

They said after Monday's snow we've had 25 inches season-to-date. Last year was 2" at the same time. They went on to say that this year is right on target for our "average" winter though. We've all gotten soft in the last couple of years I guess.

One more thing... get the FEL! It's one of the handiest implements. I used one years ago on an Orange tractor without PS and it worked.

Tom,
You have gotten 50+ inches of snow so far this season. /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif
Heck today was our first good snow storm of the year and about 5 1/2 inch, /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gifand the forecast warmer weather with rain toward the end of the weekend. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif/w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif
Have fun and keep the snow banks pushed back

We've had about 16-20 inches of snow over the last two weeks here in Carthage, Missouri, in the SW corner of the state. Highs have been about 33 and lows in the single digits, with windchill factors of aywhere from 30 below zero! The few times when the weather has permitted me to get on my TC40D Boomer without freezing to death, I've really enjoyed clearing my 500 ft gravel driveway and approx 700+ feet of county road in front of my farm. I have been using the front end loader and basically "pushing" the snow out of the way. The loader can be used to "dig and move" the snow and drop it in an appropriate area too. I have no chains, weights or fluid filled tires but in 4WD, my Boomer is unstoppable!!! I enjoy working the tractor when it's cold---just as long as the wind isn't blowing!!!!! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif Sam

PS--110 hours on the Boomer!!

Wow Sam you passed me!

I only have 78 hours on mine. I'm looking forward to playing in the snow too. Got some new tractor lights coming in for Christmas. My holidays will be spent wiring the tractor up.

Peter,
If the weather.com got this storm right you should be getting plenty of practice w/your NH&FEL, /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif and lets hope the second low pressure system doesn't catch up to the first low pressure system,/w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif or you my need to buy extra diesel fuel. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Looks like everyone just about added a thing or two far as tractor goodies to Santa list. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Peter, You gotta get to work!!!!! I also want to put some lights on my Boomer so that I can see better after dark. I can position my loader at just the right spot and see fairly good- but not good enough. Another thing I'm thinking about is putting rear view mirrors on. It really bugs me to turn around or back up without looking behind me- even if I know I'm alone, it still wories me to deviate from my present course without looking over my shoulder! A set of mirrors would mount very easily on my loader support arms--the ones in front of my knees that are on the vertical plane. I might even get a "TRACTOR" stereo system, like most of the agri-dealers sell, just as long as it doesn't affect my "meditation." /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif Merry Christmas to all of you and God bless!! Sam
