I need some advice from the experts, I was planning to buy a new GX335 from Deere until I visited a local Kubota dealer. I'm seriously considering the TG1860G since its close in price to the Deere and actually looks to be built even tougher. After looking at the Kubota and the Deere, the Cub Cadet is not even a choice now.

Thanks.

I have a GX335 with the 54" deck, and it's been an excellent machine. I mow about 5 acres during the summer, and haul firewood with the 15 cart during the winter. The 20-hp Kawasaki has no trouble cutting through really high, thick grass. And during the winter, firewood is no issue either; I haul mine up a pretty steep hill. I also loaded the cart down one day with 34 bags of topsoil (40 lb. each, total 1360 lb.), and it didn't have much problem with it. The deck comes off/goes on in about 5 minutes, and the power steering will completely spoil you.

Overall, I'd recommend one. I paid about $6300 for mine new in April 2003. I never checked the Kubota line for their prices, but I'm sure their machines are just as good as Deere, although I really don't like their treadle-pedal setup on their hydro. The twin pedal is far easier to manage (imo). If you can get one for less than $6k, that would be the way to go.

Good luck with your decision.

Thanks for the comments, the 2004 would run me $6529 from a dealer in Waynesboro PA. I'd have a drive but its a good $700 less than the dealers around me. I only have an acre and a half, but I need to clear alot of sidewalk and drive in the winter. I figured the GX would be a better plowing platform and would last me a long time.

I have a Kubota G1800 which I believe is a similar previous model. It is a great little garden tractor for fairly smooth ground. It has had plenty of power for anything I've done with it, but is rough riding on rough ground because the wheels are small. It is built like Fort Knox; with moderate care and regular maintenance I believe it will last nearly forever. I have about 250 hours on mine so far. FWIW I like the treadle pedal on the G1800 better than the front and back pedals on my CUT. The only real drawback to the G1800 is the price - it was $9000 new.
