Thanks All - this site has been very helpful. But I have a couple of Qs that I think you guys can answer about my pending 1860 purchase:

1. Extended Warranty: Is it worth it? 1 Yr or 2 Yr? The 1860 tractor will probably get used about 10 hrs/week during Connecticut's pring/Summer/Fall seasons.

2. Tires: My wife will be using the mower every week as much as I'll be using the FEL and the backhoe, so will we be OK with those Bar tires not digging-up the lawn while mowing?

3. Front-mount Snowblower: any downside to using front-mounted vs. rear-mounted Snowthrower?

4. Do you guys ever wish had(or glad you did) buy the front weights or front bumper weight bracket when using the tractor?

Thanks again and jump-in with any advice/tips.

Hi

Welcome to our forum, I have BX 1860 brand new yet to put lots of hrs but this is all based on my neighbours tractor experience. He has 1850 with front loader and lots of attachments

1. The front loader according to my neighbour, it is safe to leave it on than removing and putting it time and again because I believe it is a real pain

2. He has been using his tractor for past 10 yrs and It never broke in any weather and still using original batteries as well. So not sure if you need those extended warranty at all

3. Snow blower, I believe rear one is cheaper and easy to remove and put it on.

My 2 cents, Good luck

I have a BX23. I have turf tires and never had an issue with them. I use mine for FEL/BH and mowing. Tires aren't loaded and have no other ballast beyond the backhoe.

Mowing with the FEL on is a pain unless you are cutting a field.

I've had mine for 6 years and never bought anything beyond mantenance stuff for it. Even has the original battery..I don't have a telling of the future, but given the general quality of these machines, I really dont see the need for an extended warranty. Kubota is generally pretty good about odball failures.

You're really going to like your new machine..Congrats.

We have a B7510 and a BX2660 , the B has ~600 hrs on it and the BX was new last summer, no problems with either of them.

2. Tires: My wife will be using the mower every week as much as I'll be using the FEL and the backhoe, so will we be OK with those Bar tires not digging-up the lawn while mowing?
If you are going to mostly be mowing, I would go for the turf tires.
On the loader, I have to disagree with smokey_truck. Once you have done it a few times you will be able to install or remove the FEL in under 5 minutes (I can drop the loader on the B7510 in about 2 mins and re-install it in 3-5 mins). As such, I would recommend removing the loader when mowing. On the B7510 dropping the loader makes the tractor ride MUCH better. It goes from a bucking bronco to a smooth machine on the same lawn.

3. Front-mount Snowblower: any downside to using front-mounted vs. rear-mounted Snowthrower?
Front mount will cost a lot more, but is much easier to use. Rear mount will give you a crick in your neck in a hurry and a cab is recommended for either one.

4. Do you guys ever wish had(or glad you did) buy the front weights or front bumper weight bracket when using the tractor?
I would HIGHLY recommend the brush guard, but have never needed more weight on the front of the B7510 or the BX.

I pretty much agree with azclan, FEL is a breeze to remove/replace. Read your manual and watch this video as it is the same with all new model BX models:
YouTube - Removing a loader from the Kubota BX24

I never buy extended warranties. My first Kubota was an 03 and my son in law is still using it, never had a problem.

My first Kubota had bar tires and my BX2660 has R4s, neither damaged my lawn, but soil types will vary. I would not even try turfs with a FEL, but that's just me. Tires/wheels are not all that expensive and some opt for two sets, but R4s work great for me.

I have used two BXs and did not get any front weights though I put weights on the rear tires and that helps with traction and stability on hills.

I don't know anything about snow blowers, we don't need them here.

Bar tires will rip up the yard. For that model an extra set of wheels and tires is only 300 or so.

I have the BX24, had it for more then 3 years now. Love it! I havent had to take it in for any warranty issue yet. front brush gaurd is nice to have if you have brush, woods area. I don't think you ever will need front wieghts at all. You might want to get yours loaded in rear tires. I didn't when I bought mine and now I do and boy am I happy I did that. I never heard of anyone complaining of any issues with front blower compared to rear other then price.
I have turf tires with FEL and backhoe and haven't had problem yet.

I am a bit confused with your statement- your wife mowing as much you using the FEL and BH ? Are you plan on getting the BX25 or buying the woods BH for the 1860?

I have a BX2660 FEL MMM with turf tires and BX25 (FEL BH come with BX25) with R or I4's. No trouble with either tearing up yard. I don't do BAR or Ag tires so I don't know about them. I buy turfs for tractor that does mostly mowing and R/I4's for tractor doing mostly FEL/BH work. I've bought 10 Kubotas in 6 years and never bought an extended warranty for any of them. Have never bought front weights nor ever thought I had missed anything by not having them. If you have a FEL, there's your front weight and if you have a BH there's your back weight. If your wanting FEL and BH, as another member mentioned, you need to check out the BX25 which comes from factory with FEL and BH instead of them being add on options..

Regarding extended warranty, I've owned 5 different Kubota tractors over the past 35 years and I've had exactly zero issues with all of them. I'd pass on the extended warranty. Just keep the machine properly maintained and it'll give you many years of trouble free service.

1*I have a 2004 BX23 I bought new .
Now has 1200 hours never been back to the shop for warranty work.
Same goes for the 2 BX1500s 1 new and 1 used that I bouught in 2007.
Extend warranties would have been a big waist of money .
2*You don't have to worry about this with a compact or subcompact.
3*
4*Don't see any need for them.
