I just wanted to thank all those that posted comments on the 5740. The mate and I were mulling over all this info. We were looking for a med size tractor to move & stack hay with, and bush hog a bit with. We had looked at the case/International, Kabota, McCormick and John Deere dealers...We came upon the Montana as an after thought. (Drove by the dealer on the way home from the Case dealer.) After looking at the tractor, we came home and researched it on the internet. Came upon this site and read pages and PAGES of stuff...really helped us determine that we were gonna give it a try. The price grabbed our attention, (the 2k rebate was great too!) but the 3 year warranty clinched it, and we had our new 5740 delivered last week. Got about 200 round bales to move and load into the barn this coming week, so I sure hope we made the right decision. Time will tell... Glad to know about the dry clutch, didn't even think to ask the dealer about this, but now that we know, (thanks to this site!) we'll be extra careful. Will be keeping an eye on this site for more info, KEEP IT COMING!!! And thanks again!:D

Congradulations on your new purchase. You wil love it. i wanted to get the 5740 but could not justify the extra cost for what I do.

We do need pictures of it though and some moving bales. How heavy are the bales? What else will you be doing with it and what attachments did you get with it? We just got to know:D :D :D

Well have fun and be careful.

Congrads on the new 5740. You'll have no trouble with those round bales. I move the big ones all the time with no sweat. Let us know how you like it, please.

Well, no pics just yet, we've just been busy moving hay with it, and just today got an 8' bushhog. It is working great! The hay is about 1000# they tell me, and we are having NO PROB moving it and stacking it. We have the front end loader, but are using a front hay fork for now. Also have a post hole digger we haven't used yet...already had that. Still LOVE IT!!!!
