2000 Power Trac 422
When I bought my PT422 in 2000, there was no Power Trac website and no Tractorbynet. At that time a friends father had a PT422 and I drove it for 10 minutes. Clint Blake had had one for a few months. I did not know what most of the attachments looked like or how to use them. I knew that PT made mining equipment and had started into gardening equipment. There were no operating instructions with the tractor and no information with attachments. I planned to get a grapple bucket, but not having seen a picture of it, I thought it was like a 4 in 1. I bought the grapple anyway, but I did not think I would use it all that much (boy was I wrong). Imagine purchasing a piece of equipment with so little information.

Today the new potential buyer can read thousands of messages and ask any number of questions. They can see the tractor in use and look at pictures of all attachments. They can find issues and solutions for these issues. They can see the enthusiam for the PT and join the spirit. They can even find a local owner and go drive his tractor.

Thanks Tractorbynet.

Well put, Bob!

I'm another that wouldn't own a PT were it not for TractorByNet. I'd have probably ended up with a riding mower from Lowes. As far as stump grinding, stump pulling, and brush moving.... I'd still be doing it all with Manual Labour. Well, not the grinding, as those stumps would just be staying until they rotted away (about 15 years).

Buying "the book" convinced me I didn't need a CUT, which started me looking for alternatives, which led to Bob Skurka's thread about the best lawn tractor.

The posts here are invaluable... I'd probably still be picking chips out of my hair from the stump grinder if I hadn't reversed the rotation.

And having Jack Robin monitoring the boards is a service that I would've NEVER anticipated. Of course, most of the problems getting his attention are PT problems and not Robin problems, but at least we are learning that much. Seems like choosing the Robin engine for the smaller PTs was a good decision.

And, rather than posting to the concurrent thread:

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!

Phil

This is a great forum! Lots of good information, I was a lurker here for at least 6 months before I purchased my PT. My decision was influenced mostly by all of you.

This is also one of the few forums, where I have not seen a lot of flaming or arguing over stupid things. To me that says a lot for the caliber of people posting here. Thanks to all for making it a most enjoyable and helpful experience. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
