I've done a poor job the last two years on my lawn and consequently it has been a broadleaf wonderland. My nice fescue mix is now about only half my yard. I've broadleaf-sprayed two weeks ago and now I'm trying to figure out the next steps, and in which order

Do I -
need to remove all the dead old weeds and broadleafed grasses by thatching? Or does the vertislicer loosen all that up (I've never used one but heard great things)?
just vertislice and seed and expect the grass seed to find it's way into the ground? My local rental place has a vertislicer with a seed hopper on the front, so the seed drops then gets 'sliced' into the ground.
just mow real low and collect the clippings?
thatch then mow...
do something else entirely.
Any help would be great!!
