I'll assume that nearly everyone with a gravel/stone/dirt driveway has their own way of dealing with the inevitable weeds along-side. I had been using a backpack sprayer with a lever pump but finally upgraded to an electric pump model this spring. It's a Fimco 15 gallon rig and I couldn't be happier. In my spring round though, I envisioned a slightly better system and that's exactly what I put together today.
The tank rides in my FEL bucket and there is plenty of hose to reach back to my operator area. The electrical leads with alligator clips were plenty long enough to reach the battery and the pump runs on demand so there is no need to switch it on and off once I'm underway.
In the spring, I just reached over the side and held the spray wand by hand. It was pretty obvious to me that a boom could be rigged pretty easily. My boom is a 1X3 that happened to be standing up in a corner of the garage. Two quick clamps held it to the ROPS (no drilling!) and a few spring clamps held the spray wand and hose where I wanted it. A couple of adjustments to the spray tip and the height and I was off. The spray wand has a trigger lock built in which made it even easier.
Some pics: First four are the set up and the last one is my victims!
Hope this is useful to some of the other gravel drive owners out there.
