It looks like a Hitchcock scene outside my house this morning. Grackles are everywhere. I've seen reports on the news lately about huge flocks causing problems with their noise and droppings. I hope my infestation is short lived. The cat is nowhere to be seen! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Thomas,

I agree! The birds leave my garden alone, while bambi and friends have made me fence it if I want to see any produce. I also have three fruit trees which live only by the grace of fence. I planted about 25 each of pecan and walnut trees and perhaps 10% survived the deer. Before our old dog died, he at least kept them out of the yard. This summer, within 48 hours of old Scottie's peaceful demise, the deer had chewed several hostas to the ground. It amuses me when folks ask about what to plant as food plots for our furry friends. Put out a garden! Maybe they'll leave you a tomato or two if you let them have all the beans, greens and everything else.

The son-in-law was out walking his 35 acres yesterday looking for turkey. He didn't see gobblers, but he said he could have filled as many deer tags as he could possibly want in the first half hour. Deer we got.

You know, I think the birds have already left. My little part of heaven must have just been serving as a staging area for their trip.

Hey Chuck, here's a photo to use as your signature if the birds don't go away.

Hey, Who is this person calling himself "Thomas" ???
The name sounds rather familiar. Could it be ??

Thomas, is it really you ? Have you come back to us after all this time ?
I am assuming from your long absense that you have had a busy summer.

There has been a crow convention outside today since 5:00am. There really weren't many at all this summer (I think West Nile got a lot of them), but the survivors are all suddenly in my tall oak trees this morning.

Howya doing Mark. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
I would guess by now your pretty darn good w/NH plus attachments.

Spend very little time /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif over in your neck of the woods during my 9.000+ miles road trip on the HD Glide this year, but I gotta admit that neck of the woods very peaceful relaxing ride indeed.

Well the air getting colder and the and not to long the ground will be getting hard..soooo I have gotta swap seats..which means seat time and pushing back thos might snow banks once again. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Where did the last six months go. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Chuck you need a few of what I had in my back yard this afternoon. I had never seen one before so we looked it up and found out it was a Gyrafalcon. Apparently a somewhat rare bird in these parts. But the book said it preys on birds mainly and also small animals. I wish I had taken a picture, but it was so neat to look at it through the binoculars that it flew off to our east woods before I thought of getting the camera out. Really pretty and a big bird, mostly white with a real mean looking beak. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
