So I asked in a post if you wanted to see yet another built in the woods thread and the answer was yes so here we go. In Jan. 2009 Jane and I purchased 22 acres of wooded land in S.E. Massachusetts to build our dream home in the woods. We had thought it would take maybe7-8 months from start to finish as we wanted to do as much our selves as possible .

We were going to clear the trees cut them into fire wood and heat the house for the next few years. Well that idea lasted about three days as soon as we started in June it started to rain and never stopped. So I called in a friend that cuts for a living and he gave us a great price to cut and remove all the trees I had marked and to chip all the small stuff for ground cover.

These two pictures are of what would be the driveway entrance and my truck parked along the 500' frontage of the lot.

Here Is the driveway after marking the trees to be cut and bush hogging a path up to the house lot. This was done the first week of June.

Ok as stated before this is not a present project but built in 2009. I will post a few pictures and a little of the story each day. I am a licensed general contractor in Massachusetts but for the most part I sell lumber and building materials . I have been the GC on 40 plus homes built in the S.E. Mass area in the last 5 years and supplied all the materials.

I started a sub. of 55 and older condos and my wife fell in love with the plans and layout of these units. She asked if we could save one of the units for us and I thought about it for all of 2 seconds and then told her we are not old enough to live there ( she was 55 and I was 53 at the time) . So she came back with so let's buy your dream lot and build one on our own land .

What could I say but YES. So we started looking for the perfect wooded lot close to town but yet away from all the noise and people. We found it in Jan. of 2009 22 acres all wooded and we jumped on it $300,000.00 later we were ready to go. I subdivided it into three lots ours in the back with 18 acres and two up front on the Rd.

Here is a friend helping me get the hay bail and silt fence (1400') in and the loggers starting to cut and clear from the Rd in. The date was June 16th.

Here we have the driveway cleared and cut to the house lot this is June 20 th. If you look close in the pictures with the skidder you can see we have deer on the property.
