The Chase... Vanishing Point 1, Bullit 0

I had never seen Bullit... I like chase stuff and fast cars. I finally rented it last night. The chase scene was pretty good. As a big Mopar fan, it was hard to watch that Charger go...

Vanishing Point definitely holds the Ace for chases and high speed driving compared to Bullit. The scenes of that Challenger just flying along are great. And, that chase/race with the XKE. And, as a Mopar fan, it was nice to see they didn't crash the Challenger at the end(They actually crashed a white Camaro in to the bull dozers). Funny thing is, I remember seeing first runs of Vanishing Point at the theatres back in '71-72, but never had seen Bullit...

Bullit was done at speed though; some parts of Vanishing Point were sped up on film.

There is suppossed to be a good Aussie chase/race movie, "Running on Empty", but I have not been able to find it in the US.

What are your favorite chase movies?

With Bullit and Vanishing Point, you got two of the best. I'd also give a nod to Two Lane Blacktop and the TV show Rockford Files. Ol' Jim Rockford smashed up a BUNCH of those gold Firebirds.

The "French Connection" has a pretty darn good chase scene.

Back when I was a teen, I spent a lot of time with a friend and his dad, who raced dirt track late models. By the end of a feature race, they were laying down rubber on the dirt that would rival an asphalt track. They made the tires squall.

It was always assumed that the Dukes of Hazzard were in Hazzard County Kentucky. One episode had the Duke boys trying to escape from alligators out in the swamps of Hazzard County. If you've ever been to Eastern Kentucky, you'll know there are no swamps, no 'gators, and not much "flat" ground.

A few weeks back, I was watching a re-run of the Country Music Video Awards. The original cast of "Duke of Hazzard" were on it. My fantasies of Daisy Duke went right out the window.... The old saying, "Time stands still for no man" needs to be updated. Can you say "LARGE woman"?

What are your favorite chase movies?
My favorite is hands down the original,SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT.It combines fast cars,a nice big rig,a hot babe,a bunch of bumbling cops, a bar fight,and country music.I bet ive watched it 100 times,still love it.forgot to mention that wonderful basset hound,FRED /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Well I may be partial to moonshine runners but the best chase scenes have to be from Thunder Road.

I know what you mean about Daisy Duke. But that is reality and just goes to show what all guys get to look forward to /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I thought Dukes of Hazzard was base in Georgia though but I don't remember. I just enjoyed the show and the daily chase. I was saddened to find out that in todays society, you can't escape the police by crossing the county line /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
