New Holland TC25D (2002)
It finally happened. The previous owner of my TC25D had encased both the elbows connecting the hard lines to the oil cooler with JB Weld, it worked fine for several years, but it finally let loose yesterday.
Hydro fluid all over the yard, I guess I'll have a big patch of dead grass soon.
I have read many threads here about the issue, so I knew it would need replacing "one of these days".
Looking at Messicks I didn't see the replacement / upgrade kit mentioned, which I thought was odd, because many of the posts here mention that they carried it. Maybe it's all too old now? Or maybe I just wasn't looking in the right place.
Anyway, the local dealer is looking it up for me.
I guess I'm not really asking a question, just announcing my initiation into the Blown Elbow Club.

The dealer quoted $138 for the kit.
Dang
I guess I shouldn't complain, I got away with the old setup for several years.

Here is what came up in his system:

DESCRIPTION OF CONCERN
Two rubber hoses (part number 86540861), 1, which
have 90-degree bends and connect to the
hydrostatic transmission oil cooler, fail prematurely
due to a combination of temperature, oil-flow
characteristics, and hose specification.

ACTION/CORRECTION
A revised steel tube design (part numbers 87304506
and 87304509), 1, and rubber hoses (part number
87345854), 2, were introduced. The 90-degree
bends are now part of the steel tubes. The new hoses
are straight, and and less prone to durability issues
associated with rubber elbows.

Look like this is what you need.
87304506-tube $48.00
87304509-tube $71.00
87345854 hose $5.65 each need 2

Total is
$130.30 for parts
$8.15 for tax
$138.45 total

Here is what $138 got me today.
If there is anything I need to know before I attempt installation please chime in.

It's a straight forward install, no more than an hour to complete.

Yep, it was pretty straightforward. I was a little nervous because I haven't dealt much with hydraulics. I do know the basics and the safety rules about oil under pressure.
Luckily I had read in previous threads about the spring in the line end that connects to the hydro filter, so I didn't loose that. It would have been nice to know about the O rings though. I had to take that connection back apart to put them in after I discovered them in the old line. Yes, I should have expected them to be there, I just hadn't thought it through. You would think that the new line would come with new O rings, but no. Luckily I didn't loose those either.

When I replaced the lines on the TC 33D, I split a piece of plastic water hose and slipped it over the lower line to insulate it from the battery terminals. You never know when that wrench or jumper cable might touch the wrong spot.

Good idea!
Mine has big plastic covers over the battery terminals so I wasn't too worried about it during installation. I think I might do that, thanks for the tip.
