I thought that was interesting too. Supposedly from 1964. I had no idea the technology was that old... but then again it was not the same technology used today. Supposedly it was done with belts and pulleys to direct the movement. Rather than individual hydraulic motors. And I found it equaly interesting that they built that for the home market at the time. It apparently was before it's time. Prompting Hustler to direct its efforts to non Homeowner markets more over time. And just recently they re-enter the Homeowner/landscaper market. Seems they started something and then from neglect got passed by other companies in that market. However it seems they did well in the Goverment contract area with them for a long time.

I bet it was an interesting ride.
Looks like you are perched up on top of it with only the control levers and a bar for your feet to help keep you on it.
Hopefully they had an option for armrests.

Interesting. The ride of that design, the front mount, is far superior to the mid mount mowers. Therefore, the ride likely would have been better than all current mid mount ZTR's except for possibly the Ferris models with suspension. Also, I've operated ZTR mowers for well over a thousand hours and have never once used an arm rest. I think the armrests are for show rather than function.

I think more than anything the arm rests are for operator comfort. I definately like mine.

I was trying to be humorous with the insinuation the arm rest's might help keep someone from falling off of the machine.
I suspect that someone like yourself who has so much experience at avoiding using armrest's, might miss my attempt at humor.

Moss, since my Toro doesn't have arm rests, I really don't know whether I would use them or not, but I think I would, and I sure did use the ones on my B2710. And when I was cutting and baling hay with my old neighbor and using his old Oliver, I always used the arm rests on that tractor, but noticed that he always folded them back and never used them. I guess it's just a matter of personal preference, like lots of other things.
