On March 2, there was an EF3 tornado ripped through Johnson County Ky where I am Chief of Johnson County Fire/Rescue. After a lengthy tragic scene near the home of a long time aquaintance who received some storm damage but nothing too bad, I noticed a Troybilt Horse tiller that looked for all intents and purposes had been destroyed. I stopped back to check on them a couple of days later and asked if he would sell me the tiller. He gave it to me. On closer inspection, the machine is more than worth repairing, since I can do the work myself. This might not be a big deal to some, but in the history of this county, we have never seen the type of dsevestation we had that evening, and this machine had apparently been picked up and rolled end over end for about 100 yards, to the edge of an overflowing creek, and was sitting there with a shed roof on top of it. When I got the tiller home, the worst thing I found was the intake manifold was broken, and the right side wheel was warped beyond repair. The H bracket that holds the handlebars was broken. Everything else is some bent metal that is easily repaired. I am impressed at how tough this machine actually is. This is a model 12153 Gardenway product, electric start, 11hp Briggs engine. I feel blessed to now own this tiller, as we depend on our garden to supply a lot of our food supply. That's the story, sorry I don't have pics yet, maybe I can get some after I finish the restoration and repairs. This tiller was less than 50 yards from where a house took a direct hit and was picked up and slammed into the creek.
