Hi again! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Interestingly enough, after beating my chest a little when following Gatorboy's instructions ( In this tread )resulted in my being able to download TBN jpeg images as jpeg images...

The BMP situation has returned. But only for TBN images from what I can see.

I deleted all temp internet files and restarted my browser. I selected an image someone posted on TBN as a .jpg file, and tried to save it. The only save option given was bmp.

I then went to an ebay page and did the same "save picture as" thing, and the jpg there was saved as a .jpg file.

Then I came back to MadDog's thread about his new B7800, clicked on the link he posted that shows his new tractor, and saved one of the .jpg images there [which are located at a non-TBN site], and it saved fine as a .jpg.

Finally I came back to TBN and tried to save a different .jpg, this time BigRon's last picture in the pucker factor thread, and again, no choice but a forced .bmp save.

This time nothing I do seems to change anything, even a shutdown and fresh restart, same thing...I also increased the size of the temp files storage area on the hard drive to 20 gigs...still no difference...but only for jpegs saved at TBN from what I can see... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Now I really am /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Oddly enough, I am having the same thing happen for me. Another "work-around" is to right-click and select Email Picture... Depending on your email program, the .jpg or .gif file may show up perfectly in your email message that you can then right-click and Save properly -- or you can just email it to yourself and you can save it then.

Why don't you just email to each other....LOL

I have noticed that, too. It isn't hard to convert it to jpg. Save the image you want in a place that is easy to find. I am going to use Paint as the example because that is just about on every computer. Open the file in Paint (or another graphics program that you may be using). Then click Save As. In the Save As dialog box, change the file type to JPEG File Interchange Format (*.jpg, *.jpeg) in the Save as type field.

I am/was more concerned with the waste of time having to do conversions that should not be necessary to begin with.

So much faster just to right click and save as a JPG and be done with it. Also I wonder, but don't know, if image quality suffers when converting from BMP to JPG? Double conversion really, since the image starts out as a JPG to begin with.

Anyway, image quality does not matter that much as the images are just saved to toggle the memory anyway.

Rather than resize, it seems easier for me just to right click and send the image to myself as an email. I tried that and it arrived as a JPG.

Still, this is much more cumbersome than it used to be... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Funny that it only seems to affect TBN images at the moment. But I don't normally download images that often, so what do I know? /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

OK, now we are getting somewhere. It also affects only my TBN. That is why I was saying my fix wouldn't work because I was only trying some pictures that I had posted on TBN that I knew were JPGs when posted.

Weird.
