My FEL started to drip from 1 of the lift cylinders in the spring. Then the other one, the the curl cylinders. I hate to bannish the poor guy from the barn but he's making a mess of the floor. Anyone ever rebuilt these cylinders on a factory 240 loader? Funds are a bit tight so I would like to tackle this myself if possible.

We rebuilt one several years ago. We just took one of each cylinder apart and took the seals in to a local bearing shop (Motion Industries I think) and they matched them all up. Sort of strange looking seals if I remember right. I think they had to order one seal but it only took a day or two to get it. Installation was pretty easy and we had the other cylinders to compare to. I also have an exploded drawing if you want it. Just click the "contact us" link below. I also have the oring dimensions if you need them.

I've replaced seals on the Great Bend loader on my YM240. I had the first one done by a hydraulic shop for about $170. After that I did the others myself for about $10 in seals per cylinder. I had to buy a jumbo pipe wrench to unscrew the cylinder end caps; everything else was simple. The local hydraulic/bearing shop had all the seals I needed.

Tip - leave one end of the cylinder mounted so you have something to wrench against. :D

Thanks for the help. Sounds easy enough. Sent my request to Hoye for the specs. In the meantime, time to break out th PB Blaster and start soaking down the fittings. Looks like the've never been messed with.

Well I ended up doing like California. Couldn't locate the parts myself so I took one to a shop for repair. It was a little under 40 bucks total and they hooked me up with the seals/o-rings to do the other 3 for about 10 bucks per cylinder. Apparently these things are quite easy to rebuild.
