Has anyone seen the new 2008 Yamaha 700 FI Rhino. I have been to several dealers and they do not even have the literature on them yet. The first place I saw them was being advertised on TV the other night. What one can see from a TV add, it hasn't changed that much except for the bump up to 700 and the FI which is the best part to me. My 07 660 is a hard starter with lots of cranking to get it started when it is cold and then it is a good length of warm up time after he fires up. :)

I installed a dynatek cdi and that fixed my hard starting problems.
This also removes the rev limiter. Hunterworks sells the tri fire cdi which is suppose to be the best.

I'm waiting for my dealer to get the 08's in. I've heard the reverse gear ratio is better.

I have seen the 08 at the dealer. The sticker on the hood is about the only way I knew it was an 08. I will most likey upgrade my 05 after this has been out a year.

The big selling point is EFI. The other minor differences are 20 cc bigger motor, fuel gauge, and better CV boot protection. I did not know about the reverse gear ratio.

They moved the air intake under the hood. (Suppose to be quiter)
Emergency brake is better and bigger.
Fuel gauge is a nice added feature.
4 wheel disk brakes.
No choke and efi will make for a much smoother running engine.
Also better for people that ride in higher altitudes.

My 07 has a great emergency brake, and has a fuel gauge and it also has 4 wheel disk brakes or is it 2 front disk and a single disk in the back. Dam if I can remember. It does have the choke, but it also runs quite smoothly. I have no idea about CDI's and all the other stuff you wrote about for starting easier. This ole geezer is just a plain take care of the unit and repair as needed and enjoy it. In other words, I'm just a plain old laymen.:)

Specs from Yamaha
I would like to upgrade, just not enough new changes for me to warrant the price difference.

Tri_Fire Cdi.
This will fix your cold start problems. It's also plug and play.. :)

gotcha,

Ours is an 05, garage kept and works everyday out in the horse barn. I can tell you she starts everymorning with little fuss.

Knock on wood, never had any problems yet!

OK guys this is my third try as when I have been doing a Preview of post everything has disappeared.
Skipholiday, thanks so much for the 2 post you passed on. I like the CDI, BUT it would take an ole geezer like myself who is on SS months if not years to collect enough pennies to put one on my Rhino. I guess I'll just have to crank the unit when it is cold outside for the 5 minutes and the 10 to 15 second cranks. I don't crank to long as I do not want to damage the starter. Now about the specs. of the 08 vs. 07 I only see 2 things different and neither one really have anything to do with the everyday use, except for the 700 EI. I only saw a new parking brake handle and disk brakes on all wheels, and oh ya and new decal.

Malvern, I guess one would consider my unit as being covered, but yet out side in the cold. I park it under on of my large decks and put the Yamaha Rhino cover over it. It is protected from the top and 3 sides. Two by the house and the other by the firewood pile. As I stated above about the cranking the dealership keeps telling me that it is normal as is the squeaking brakes or whatever makes the squeak in every Rhino.
Thanks guys for all the input as I really enjoying participating in good conversation. :)

Cold Start Spark Plug Wire
Here is another alternative for $44.95 shipped.
The guy selling these is a good guy. I've been trading with him for a few years.

Now your playing in my ball field. Thanks muchly. Oh before I hang up, would something like this affect the engine and any warranty or stuff like that? :)
