Deposit on JD 4110 (04/26/2002)-Delivered 06/29/2002
I ordered a 4010 last Friday. The dealer in CT,USA says ~4 weeks to delivery. Put me at about May 16th.
Can’t wait. She promises to be a real back saver. She is replacing a 3 year old Scotts (Murray) “disposable”.
Just wanted to introduce myself and get my first post out of the way.
I’ve read through this thread and I am impressed with the quality and breadth of topics and posts.
To me (an Irish tight wad) this is a large and long-term investment.
Best to All,
Ed the Pilgrim

PS: I ordered the mid SCV, Folding ROPS, Turf rubber, 60” mid mount mower, 410 loader w/ level and rear ballast box.

Welcome aboard Pilgrim. Just a bit of advice when you get your tractor, try not to smile now and then when your on it (it will be hard/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif) so you can get some color on your smile lines too. Spent 6 hours yesterday and 4 hours today on my tractor and my smile lines are so pale now when I ain't smiling they show up real good./w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

Wow, does the word Murray bring back bad memories. Prior to my first JD purchase of a JD111 in 1984, I had a Murray riding mower...had several years on it. One day I was doing some heavy mowing with it when flames started shooting from the rear exhaust (engine was mounted on back of tractor). This caused dead grass on mower deck to ignite. I didn't realize it until I looked down and saw half the mower deck was on fire. This certainly was a 'disposable' unit. I brought it to my local landfill right after I purchased the 111. Have had JDs ever since.

I have a Scotts for mowing around the house, but it is by John Deere, is that new or are they in some sort of Murray collusion?

It actually works well, as a mower....

Mike,

It's confusing. My 3 year old 17 HP Scotts is definitely a Murray. Murray was also making some models for Sears, Stanley (tools) and even Deere. The JD web site says that JD makes Scotts now. The Scotts is really like a Home Depot private label unit. Who knows. I DO know my Scotts/Murray has a Beer holder and I don't think the JD 4010 I ordered does. I don't think the ballast box qualifies as such. Do you guys rig something up to the ROPS for a can holder or what?

Just fill the ballast box up with Ice and Water add beverage and enjoy them icy cold. /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

JD makes a cupholder as an accessory that you can buy and put on.
