Yep Rob, quite frankly, I never knew a new tractor would take this long to get here, but then, I have never ordered a new one before. In fact, this IS my FIRST new one. When I first began looking, they had a 2320 on the lot, a 2009 model - still new, but had been sitting outside so long some of the stuff like the tach needle and lever handles were faded due to the sunlight. Plus it had turf tires and I wanted R4s. Hence, the order for the new 2010 model.

BGT,
I've weighed the new or used tractor option myself. In fact I wanted a used one this time around but my dealer didn't have one and I couldn't find one close enough so that I could examine it completely.
The thing about new is that it's a good deal. I traded my used guy in with a few implements and it took the chunk off the big price (and tax) for the new one. I also got 36 mos. 0% financing with the 50 dollar a year insurance. That saved me a lot as my insurance was much higher through my insurance agent.
I have a low payment, a new tractor that I know someone didn't do something stupid to and all is well.
Also I've said this before, Deere has a "migratory tractor policy". That means a tractor is only warranteed within a certain area, go outside the area and you have an orphan. So the tractor in Ohio might look like a good deal when you're in Maine but it's not that good unless you're stealing it for a very low price and you do your own work.
I got my tractor from a guy I trust, he knows me and if I run into trouble he takes care of me. Something he wouldn't do if I bought a tractor three states away and came in with a broken part that cost $1500.00.
When I bought my first tactor I didn't know him and I said, "Make your money but don't screw me" and I never bickered on price. He has been really good to me and when I had a bad front shaft to the tune of 900+ bucks he ate it even though it was a couple of months out of warrantee.
So, yea, shop for price but think about what you're getting and what you save down the line. Bicker with a dealer for nickels and dimes and when you get stuck you'll get a dealer who remembered the sale.
That's my advice and it works for me.
Rob
