The "Oil Commandment" truth or doohickey.

I recently bought a B7100 with about 1500 hrs. The previous owner, according
to my buddy I brought with me to help with the move, said that the owner had stated that he had been using Mobil One since day one in this tractor.

The same Buddy, a somewhat reliable source and I say somewhat reliable hoping that he'll read this thread, decreed that " Thou shall not use Rotella after a life of Mobil One" because of ring and seal problems.

Is this just an " old buddy tale" or is there some truth to this promulgation.

Thanks thatguy for the link. I'm currently doing a research project about preventative maintenance and the benifits of oil analysis. If you have any other links or resources up your sleeve they would be greatly appreciated.

On the subject here the information that I have read so far the best oil to use is the one recommended by the manufacturer. The seals will be fine.
