My 3510 PTO will not engage after it has been off for a while since new. The dealer I bought it from told me to give the solenoid a tap and it will engage. Said the contacts stick after sitting. 10 years later and when I plan on using the PTO, I give the solenoid under the right side a tap and she's on!! If I forget, have to crawl off and tap, in business!

It builds up a crust in this piston. Sometimes tapping will help (when in a hurry ), but taking the cap off and lubing it is the "best" answer.

Usually a once a year thing around here...
