My apologies to anyone who has seen this before, but since we TBNers are all about power, I just have to post this link. Honestly, I may be a little weird, but this had me laughing so hard it brought tears to my eyes. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

The video was taken from the BBC TV show Top Gear. The show centers around reviews of the best cars the world's auto makers have to offer. Each episode had a feature like the video you showed, full of that great British sarcasim.

The show used to be shown on the Discovery Channel. Unfortunately, Discovery dropped the show yet for some reason continue to show American Chopper. Figure that out if you can /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

jinman,

I tried, this is what Google repied with:

Currently, the playback feature of Google Video isn't available in your country.

We hope to make this feature available more widely in the future, and we really appreciate your patience

I frequently run up against this. There is a cable channel I would like to subscribe to, however you have to be in the USA to get it. They check my IP address and see that it is form France and then they reject me. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Oh well, can't have everything!

My favorite is the one where he did a high speed road test of a 280 hp Mitsubishi with state-of-the-art traction enhancement. 3 minutes into the 5 minute video, he tried a 250 hp Subaru WRX for comparison. The Subaru blew the doors off the Mitsubishi. In the last scene of the Mitsubishi review, he said he'll take the Subaru.

here's the video, on Google Vids:

Reminds me of that movie ("Pushing Tin" with Thornton and Cusack), where they stand on the runway as planes land and get blown away.

For grins and gigles I drove both the WRX and STI.

WRX has the power when the turbo kicks in (if I remember correctly around 2000 rpms). The STI has it when you "push the pedal to the metal".

I would love to have an STI, but honestly, with AWD you get the feeling that you're invinceable (sp?) doing ANYTHING.

Insurance otherwise, I know I would end up killing myself if I bought the STI.

For around 30k (STI), you can compete with ANYONE on the road.

STI is truely a wolf in sheeps clothing (sp?).

If you like those two cars check out the new Volkswagen R32.

250 Horse, 6-speed AWD with a neck jerking 240 ft lbs. of torque. And best of all, it is NOT Japanese. Pure German craftsmanship. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I actually looked at the R32 (I'm on my third V.W, but it will be the last).

Comparing the specs on the R32 copmared to the STI, the STI beats the V.W in almost every catagory (STI over 300 hp).

I remembered (sp?) when the R32 came out and they wanted the same price for it as the STI. Didn't make sense.

I know the Golf's and GTI's are made in either Mexico or Brazil. Not sure about the R32.

Buddy had a GTI V6, great car, but it does have it's quarks, and good thing he's a VW mechanic.

My Golf in 6 years has seen over 240k, still going strong, but one of the last ones to actually be made in Germany.
