To those who are considering buying a Mahindra or any other brand tractor. Go the extra mile and research the tractor as well as the dealership your considering buying from. Not all dealerships are the same just like the equipment the sell. If you are considering Mahindra, see how long they have been a dealer. Talk not only to the sales person but to the service manage as well. Make sure the techs. are certified and attending service schools.Ask to see the techs service diplomas, they should be prominently displayed in the service dept. Make sure you tractor gets registered for warranty. Find out about pick up and delivery charges. I guess I'm rambling too much now. It pains me to find a few bad dealerships can give all Mahindra dealerships a bad name. Most of them the customer is number 1!

We have one in our area that has had problems doing what they are supposed to as well. I might have bought their brand of tractor but went with another brand. Ed

When it comes time for me to pull the trigger, I'm planning on asking for some references on the service department/dealership. A friend at work just bought a Max whatchamacallit Mahindra recently from Burnips in Three Rivers, MI. My neighbor bought a Kubota from the dealership around the corner from me and has not been happy with his problematic tractor and the service department and Kubota corporate.

If possible, make a visit to the dealer in mind and ask to take a peek at the service department. You can get some good gut feelings from first impressions.

I also like to talk and get to know the mechanics. That way I can pick their mind when I got a problem.

If it is an area with farmers ask Them some questions about the dealers. Not just one or two but a few of them. What is the rep. of this dealer? ect. Ed

Though I'd add a little more food for thought since recent posts on the the service Forum have come to light. For those who are considering buying a Mahindra please read above carfuly and in addition take note of what that dealer sells as its primary product. Mahindra in my experience is all about sell, sell, sell, Service seems to be second. Mahindra is allowing dealerships of all kinds whether they sell mini bikes and jet skies or tractors as there primary product. This to me seems to be where the problem lies. Who would you rather deal with for service, Smith's cycle shop or Jones tractor sales and service?Last for those who already have a tractor and are having trouble with your dealer consider another dealer in your area if possible.

yup the dealer is important.

I looked at several dealers before I bought my Mahindra. For 20 years, I had been doing occasional business with a family owned dealership who sold and serviced Deere, but the old guy who founded the business back in the 50's had experience, knowledge and connections with many other brands and he and his family were very helpful getting me parts for my Ferguson. Nice helpful, friendly family business. About 10-12 years ago, when Deere decided to get their nose up in the air and open their big 'superstores', they pulled this family's franchise, so they went to Mahindra and never looked back. Still the same friendly, knowledgeable family business. They keep at least 10-15 tractors on site most of the time and sell Husqvarna lawn tractors as well, but their primary focus is Mahindra sales, service and accessories.

The founder died a few years ago but his 90 yo widow still goes to work everyday to manage the books. Their daughter and her husband handle the business, parts and sales and their sons (and a couple other employees) handle service.

To them, servicing the customer is everything. If it wasn't they wouldn't be in business in the same spot for 60 years.

When I bought my Mahindra from them, I got the same friendly knowledgeable service I got when I first went there 20+ years ago.

I had a strange leak in a weld on one of my fel lift cylinders about a month after I got my tractor. I took it off, brought it to them and told them what the problem was. She took the cylinder, and gave me a new one, no questions asked. I could get my replacement consumables elsewhere, maybe cheaper, but I get them from them and they always have everything I need.

Nice people, nice business.

Well said there Oldpilgram and exactly the point of my last post. The dealership you dealt with has a long background with tractor sales and service.I suspect thats why you and others are well satisfied with that dealer. Mahindra these day will pretty much give anyone a dealership if they are in the right location. Very little is expected of the service dept.

MahindraUSA is currently working on improving their dealer network. They are raising the bar on who can sale the Mahindra brand. When my dealer retired and closed shop, Mahindra only asked one company in town to take over Mahindra sales and service. This company was owned and ran by my old Mahindra salesman and his service manager. Oh how I wanted them two to take on the Mahindra line. As it turned out, an out of town dealer bought (his 4th location) the old dealers property and still only sales Mahindra at that location.

Get to know by first name, your future mechanic and service manager. Also get to know the parts people. They are the folks that make or break service.................and in the long run..............the business staying open.
hugs, Brandi
