We are considering a modest tractor for our 44 acres in East Alabama. The tractor would be used for bush-hogging, garden plowing, fence post drilling and perhaps later, some front end loader work (just a little though).

The land is hilly.

Thanks for any advice you can offer.

I paid about $16,900.00 for the 3510 with FEL in May of 2004.

Mahindra 4110 with F E L $18,500.00, I think they are offering low
financing, as low as 0%. I must put a plug in for the larger 4110,
after 440 hrs it has worked hard for me without dissapointment and the dealer I have has work hard to solve any minor problems I have had, with that much land it would not hurt to have the extra horsepower and weight. Also , if you have any Farm Shows in your area go and compare tractors, I started my search at my Farm Show which had every major tractor manufacturer in the U.S. including The 4TH LARGEST MAHINDRA, when you have a Mahindra side by side with a Deere or Kubota you start wondering why would I pay more for less tractor than the Mahindra, especially since they all are foreign made, assembled in U .S. Good luck with your tractor shopping

How much brushogging??

If you want to go to a 6 foot or better hog then you should look into the 4110, if you are looking up to 6 then the 3510 will do it.

If you can use the bigger machine, then get it. If the smaller one will do everything you need and you want to save a few bucks then go smaller.

I think your best bet is to first determine how much brush hog you want to pull, then decide how much you want to spend. Find the closest match and buy it. You can run a post hole digger with 25 hp so that isnt going to be your biggest implement. The brush hog will be. (for now /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif)

Any of the ones Charlie posted will do what you want, I would include smaller HP ones also. You wont pull as much implement, but they will do the job.

Do you need 4wd? Well it is really nice for loader work and traction at least in my soil. You need to figure what you need.

I like my 3510 and without knowing exactly what you are going to do with it I think a 3510 will do you.

I gave 16k last fall for mine 4wd with loader. Steel price went up and they went to about 17.6K the week after I got mine.

Charlie has the right idea. either the 25 series for a little more economical or the 4110 for a little more power.
depending on your budget either one would work.
