Jinma 204
My new Jinma 204 will arrive tomorrow, along with the fel, brush hog and box blade. Have been looking for the last year and decided Jinma was the way to go for price. Actually cleaned up my workshop so I could park it indoors. New to tractors - on my five acres = thoughts tips ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Did you get the 2 cylinder or 3 cylinder? The y380 is smooth but I really like the torge of the 2cyl.

It is the two cylinder - dealer said it had more torque. I have some small areas to mow so needed small tractor with lots of torque.

I am glad to see I am not the only one with a new Jinma. I have had mine for about a month and I can tell you a few things that I have learned about my 284.

Over all I have been very very happy with our tractor, it is amazing but I can be grouchy and tired after a long day at the office, but 5 minutes after I start my tractor all of the stress melts a away. Things that I did with our new tractor were as follows.

#1 The one piece instrument cluster had a leak in the face glass. My solution was to remove the cluster and disassemble. You have to very carefully bend the bottom of the black frame out and the glass and bezel come off of the front of the cluster. Let dry over night, judicial use of WD 40 on the moving meter parts (remember very very little amount of WD 40 on these parts) is next. WD 40 is not a great lubricant but is excellent at water displacement and preventing corrosion on sensitive parts. Thin coats of silicone on the very edge of the glass on both sides is next and reassemble. When done the cluster is water and Diesel resistant. This is very important as the filler cap for the tractor is above the Gauge cluster and you will spill Diesel on the Gauges it is just a matter of when.

#2 While the Gauges are out unplug the electrical connections and lightly pack them with water proof electrical grease. If you do not think that this is necessary just look at many of the newer vehicles, most of them now do this on their connectors. This was standard practice for telephone gear in Oregon for decades because of the huge amount of rainfall. I have never seen a connector go bad when properly packed with grease. The electrical system on Jinma’s are not badly constructed, they just need some help for a long life. Do not forget to coat the “Bolts” on the gauge assembly Amp meter with this grease also. You will be very glad you did.

#3 Check your bolts and connectors for tightness, found two on ours that were not even finger tight.

#4 New oils and fluids, I found out that the stuff in the tractor when you receive it is JUNK. Toss it out and put new in the tractor.

#5 Creeper box make sure that it is getting lubrication.

All of the Best

Scott.

Thanks for the tips Scott. Spent my first afternoon on the baby, brush hogged about two acres of pasture and took a pass at the dreaded blackberries. I bought mine slightly used (36 hours), so the dealer changed all the fluids and filters before he delivered that so i should be good until next spring. Used the loader to move some manure, where the pile had crept out. All in all a good day - I had the dealer weld a chain hook on the bucket, which has already been handy. I was able to move the box blade I bought to the storage shed without taking the brush cutter off. I just beat along - and I didn't hit anything I hadn't intended to. So far, everything I thought it was going to be, and have been led to believe on the forum. Although I did drive 3 times with the brake on - I know I saw a mod somewhere for a warning light so I have to go find that now.
Cheers

Glad to hear about your new purchase. I've had a 3 cyl. 204 for a year. I have a 160 Koyker loader with a box blade and 4' rotary mower. I've got 180 hrs. on so far and the only problem to date is a faulty fuel tank sending unit. I have 6 acres and a few horses. The 204 works perfect for what I need. I have some steep hills so I had to learn real quick about cross slopes!!
