Tractor
Several, all used and abused.
I've had my small tractor for about five years now and have 350 hours on it. I use it mostly for mowing and will spend most of the day on it about once a month.

At first, I thought the seat was comfortable, but then after a few hours, I'd start to hurt. I tried pillows, seat cushions and car seat pads with fair results. I'd last longer, but still be hurting by the end of the day.

I was surfing aroudn on ebay and thought I'd check for seat cushions. I didn't know what I'd find, but when "Position Plus Wheel Chair Cushion" came up for a buy it now price of $15, I got curious. It never occured to try one of them, but it makes allot of sense that they would need a good cushion. The price was right, so I gave it a try.

At first, it seems a little thick and tall, but in no time at all, it felt natural. I spent ten hours mowing yesterday and hated to get off the seat to clean out the radiator. At no time was I uncomfortable. Nothing hurt!!!!!

If you're looking for a new seat or wanting something to soften your ride, I highly recomend going to ebay and doing a search for one. I haven't had it long enough to know how long it will last, but if I have to buy one every year, I will without hesitation. This is the greatest thing for making my life better on the tractor that I've come across.

It's a type of foam, but maybe stiffer, if that makes sense? It supports my weight (220) and there's still plenty left to absorb the bumps.

my wife is in a wheelchair - and she uses this sort of cushion.

also search for roho - they are air bag cushions, and the better ones have four separate compartments to inflate or deflate at will.

Most of the better ones are gel filled.

Yep, agree with guyd. The Roho air cushion is the best. The gel seats are good but having a brother in a wheelchair the air cushions are better. Take it from someone who can't move to adjust himself and develops bed sores, the air cushions are the best.

But for most people I bet foam would be just fine... and cheaper too!

Eddie,

Do you have any trouble with the cushion sliding around on your tractor seat ? What tractor do you have ? My Kubota B7610 seat seems to be pitched forward and I am thinking I might slide right out of the seat.

Thanks,

I have a Century tractor, which is the same as a Branson, or so I'm told. The seat seems level and I've never thought that I was sliding off of it. Nor does the cushion slide aroudn on the seat.

It's just uncomfortable after a few hours. The cushion solved that completely. I never feel sore or stiff, it just takes away all the discomfort that I was suffering through.

You should see if you can get a new seat from your dealer. They may not give you the seat at this point but trust me, it's worth the price, whatever it is!

Here's a link to one of the most popular threads on this forum which discusses the seat recall... (as a matter of fact, post #484 is from my dealer)
http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/kubota-owning-operating/103639-new-warranty-bx-seat.html

if the link doesn't work do a search in the Kubota Owning/Operating section for "warranty bx seat".

Most of the better ones are gel filled.

My mother was in a wheel chair for several years and preferred the gel cushion. I ordered a cheap one once on ebay and bought a high priced one locally from a medical supply house. I expected the ebay cushion to be "cheap" in more ways that one and really only bought it to have for a spare in the event something happened to the good one. Well, that's another time I was wrong. The cheap one from ebay was every bit as good as, if not better than, the expensive one I bought locally.

Good grief. I guess heated cup holders are next. :D

HEATED CUP HOLDERS---WOW! That's a good idea.

They make 12 volt cups that are bi-metal controled, and will heat or cool, depending on which way you run the current. So heating can be changed to cooling, depending on the time of day, season, or workload.
