In one of my posts above I mentioned that beavers were ringing trees so big that two men couldn't get their arms around them. Well, I was in that valley earlier this week hugging trees (shooting at deer actually) and they are not that big. It would take two men to get there arms around them but not bigger than that. However, they'd killed a lot more than I'd guessed too.

Small point, I know, but I didn't want people to think I had redwoods in South Carolina or that I was telling a whopper......which I've been known to do from time to time.

When a friend of mine was a young boy someone told him that his dad told great stories. "He sure does," said my friend, "and some of them are true too!" ​

I've got the traps, I've just got to do it right and be willing to put the work into it.....or hire him.

Have you checked around your area for people that do trapping? Here, N. Georgia, there are a lot of fellows that will trap beaver for free so they can have the pelts.

The local wildlife biologist will do it for me, but I don't think he sells the pelts so it would cost me. It was my understanding that pelts from the south eastern US didn't fetch much because it is so warm here that they never get a full thick coat.

George, I really don't know anything about the value of the pelts, just know there are three or four guys in the area that will trap beaver for free to get the pelts.

They must be getting enough money for it to be worth their time or they wouldn't do it. I may have to shop around and see if I can find someone like that.
