Well, I finally got a digital camera and here's my first post of my rig. My truck pulling my new trailer /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif, loaded with the 790 and box scraper. In the back of the truck are my water barrels with 110 gallons of water for the new trees and the whole thing is parked over my fall culvert project. The dirt pile in the background is on our neighbors lot to the north. Younger son is still in the truck, older one is hiding behind the gatepost. Wife is on her way out. What more could a person ask for /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Hey Rob,

It looks like you are set for a whole new profession! I'm trained as MechE too. How's the auto industry... must give you great insight for tractor work.

Nice looking rig Rob. That car-hauler trailer sure looks like it makes for easy loading. I have an 18 ft pipetop myself and you and I will both have a problem getting our tractors on our trailers if we have a rotary cutter. My old Ford Jubilee is no problem because it has no loader, but my TC45D NH will surely be one trailer-full if I load it. Like yours, it fits perfectly with a box blade on the rear. 18 ft is a good length.

Peter, the auto industry is one reason I'm drawn to tractors and rural living. Everything at work takes so long. We can work on a new component knowing it will be 2-3 years before it's in production. On the tractor, I can be digging away at some stumps (like this weekend) knowing that in just a few minutes I'll have the satisfaction of yanking one out. Aargh, aaarrgghh, aaaarrrggghhh!!!

For now, I'll keep tractoring as a hobby, but who knows? It may be a nice way to make a few extra bucks in retirement some day /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Thanks Jim. I think your TC45D would be quite a load for my trailer. It's only rated at 7000 pounds and that includes the weight of the trailer itself. I backed my tractor with rotary cutter up on it last night and it worked fine. The tailwheel just caught the lower edge of the trailer beavertail then rolled right up. Normally, I'll probably load it facing forward. This time I unhooked the cutter to park on the trailer out at our property. I needed to clear some garage space for our upcoming garage sale. Tractor still stays in though /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

My trailer also has two-3500# axles. My old trailer (before it was stolen - another story) was only 14 feet long and I constantly had stuff sticking off the back. When I went to replace it, I really wanted the extra room and so I got the 18 footer. Actually, I'm just at the maximum rated weight with my TC45D. My rear tires are empty. If I fill them, I'll be over my weight limit. The first time I hauled it any great distance, it let me know that my truck was ready for some new rear shocks. I put new one's on and everything is great.

BTW. Did you have your trailer tires balanced? A lot of people don't have that done and it's a big mistake. Balanced tires on the trailer make it tow like a dream at hiway speeds.

I never even thought about balancing the trailer tires. My tractor hauler may not see highway useage but we also pull a fifth wheel RV. When I repack the wheel bearings this year, maybe I'll have the tires balances. Thanks for the tip Jim /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
