The smell of freshly turned dirt!
I borrowed my neighbor’s disc plow today, I’d borrowed it several times with his tractor, but today was my first time with MY OWN tractor!
Sadly, it was probably a little to big for my little JD 790; it’s a six footer w/ 16” discs.
It didn’t cut as deep as it did with his 50HP Massey and the rows weren’t as straight; I could feel the tail end of my tractor moving a lot more.
But it got the job done!
I must say though that I think my “little tractor” could pull his sideways.
His is propane powered and I really think this diesel is nearly as strong, it’s just not as big and doesn’t have the weight that his does.
Anyhow, here’s some pics:
After the disc and a little bit of dragging. (We got .7” on Sat, it was really too wet still to be dragging, but I need to do it, you can see the furrows from where I’d disc it up before. The rain is fixin’ to start channeling if I don’t level it back out.)

The horse exploring her “new” stomping grounds:

I’ll finish dragging in a day or two, after it dries out a little more.
In the mean time, there’s still the drive way to work on!
