Morning again folks;

Im getting the electrical connections sorted out ... 89 YM 180 d ... seems like theres been some work done on this tractor and the electrical was not completely reconnected. Clutch & brakes have been replaced.

I'd like to double check on the thermostarter wire connection in attached pic; it should be universal on all Yanmars; left side, on the air intake after the airfilter, before the head.

The wire connection tab "A" looks like it is broaken off the thermostarter and black wire & round clear rubber insulated brass connector "B" is missing a wire connection to the thermostarter.

Could someone check there trermostarter wire connects and verify how its connected? (post a pic to verify?)

BC,

It looks like the TS (blue 12ga) wire that you have indicated is connected to the big B+ terminal of the starter if I am seeing it right correct me if I am wrong? Or its not actually for the TS one or the other.

If so its wrong if its there.

The TS would be energized all the time, it needs to be hooked to the ignition switch on the start terminal there (not run) and the aux term on the ign sw.

... Im not sure Im following ... black wire "B" in the photo runs into black wire insulation ...

"TS"? what do you means by "TS?" (blue 12ga) wire?

Photos not great; and theres other wires into and out of the starter; Im pointing to the black wire and brass connector ... not connected to the starter;

...theres some purple wires connected to the starter that the previoue owner has installed ...

"B" it's probably a wire for thermostarter. Its other end should be connect to the glow control (a small box next to the voltage regulator). You can check this with an ohmmeter. Or (at time when thermostarter should work) you can check if in the wire "B" is voltage, with voltmeter, or witch piece of wire with the bulb.
My thermostarter also was disconnected when I bought my tractor.

The pictures don't show exactly where the ThermoStart wire is coming from but the wire end "B" which I believe is the TS connection by the look of it would plug into a short male ended wire end connector at "A" your TS unit.

What I was attempting to convey was if the wire "B" went to the big terminal on the starter where the blue wire and big red wire are connected the TS would burn up because it would be on all the time. From the pic its not clear after the black snakeskin insulation where it goes.

thanks all for the helpfull info;

after thinking about this further I had a brain wave that turned on a little lightbulb above mt head ... I should use a grounded electrical check light and turn on the themostart on the ignition; and it lit up.

I made a O ring and male jumper wire as in the above supplied pic to reconnect ... I didnt have time to do an installed check yet. 99% sure it will work; thanks!

:D
