My Grandmother moved out of her house last summer and I inhereted the garage and most of the contents that we kept. Of course it was just about all. (I don't like to throw anything out that, you know you might use somtime) Well my grandfater was a auto machinic for chrysler/Dodge? He retired in the early 70's and passed away shortly after that. Well long story short. I guess I didn't fall far from the tree. He didn't throw anything out either. I am wondering if some of this stuff could be sold to someone who would use it. I of course have kept all the tools but much of which I know I will not use is parts for cars. here some examples

Oil filters still in wrappers for cars from the 60's
brake shoes in boxes
old price books for repair jobs (funny to see what fixing cars cost 30+ years ago)

Repair books for mid 60's
points
spark plugs

more items that I am sure I have not figured out what they are.

Most of the items there are a few but lots of differnt things add up. (I think what I am saying there are not large numbers of one item maybe two three but a lot of varity.

just curious as to what anyone might think

thanks!

I would take pictures and list with a good description on ebay you would be surprised what that old stuff will bring.

I would think that like the TBN, there must be a discussion board for car collecters and the like. you could try this one.

I found these 2 doing a random search for car collector forums, I am sure there are more. These forums and clubs should put you in contact with the people that might be looking for just the kinds of parts etc. that you have.

I haven't been to any of them lately, but down in this area there are a lot of flea markets and things like that seem to show up there a lot. Of course, I would have no idea how to price such stuff.

Rest assured there is quite a demand for stuff like that. Especially for NIB stuff (New In Box). NIB auto parts from that era should do quite well. Expect it to sell for considerably more that he ever paid for them even if you allow for inflation.

I once bought a pair of OEM FOMOCO 1966 Mustang backup lights, lenses, and tranny switch to activate them. Intended to put them on my Sunbeam Tiger of that year (same engine and tranny) but balked as I didn't want to pull the engine and tranny to install the switch. Still have them. Last I checked, I'm doing better than T-bills and a lot of other investments.

I have some 1962 VW tail light assemblies with the original red GLASS lenses. Took them off my buggy to avoid theft as the price just keeps going up.

Good luck to you,

Patrick

Greenthumb, There is a store in Utica called Auto-Know they collect and resell all sorts of vehicle literature even tractor stuff.
I believe the owner is a mopar fan. I'll dig up a number and name. I'll bet he'll know just the car show/swap meet that you should take all that stuff to.

He probably deals on Ebay also which sounds like good route also.
