Think I found the manufacturer of my next trailer

I'm very pleased with the performance of my current Wells Cargo trailer it just doesn't suit my needs if I hire a full-time helper. Since Haulmark bought them or they merged, or whatever happened, my trailer dealer doesn't have any faith in them anymore not to mention it doesn't seem like they can build what I'm looking for.

So I did a search for custom trailer builders and found this company 2 1/2 short hours away in Madera, CA.

I drove down there today with my trailer and met with the president and his chief builder. We went through what I was looking for, what I had, what I needed, and what they thought would work. I'm waiting for him to put the numbers and build sheet together for me. I expect to see that in a couple of weeks.

on a 5th wheel mount or GN for your new truck? I thought fifth wheels would take more pin weight

It will be a fixed king-pin or fifth wheel I suppose, but more in the semi class and not in the RV sense. A gooseneck will hold quite a bit of tongue weight. My current gooseneck has about 4000# of tongue weight.

Hahahaha, I got the quote for the trailer. I had a number in mind and could have accepted it running over that. My current 28' Wells Cargo trailer with all of the cabinetry installed was a little over $30k. Obviously for a 40' with extra cabinetry, bulk oil tanks, 3 air ride axles, and a few other extras I expected to pay quite a bit more. I was expecting $60k and probably would not have been terribly shocked at $80k. The only reaction I was capable of when I got the $160k quote was laughter. I haven't even responded to the manufacturer I'm still recovering from sticker shock. There were even some things missing in the quote that either he missed or I didn't communicate very well. I think this has changed my plan for now.
