I'm looking at a 72" Buhler/Farm-King Y650R fininsh mower the local dealer has them on special right now. How fast can you effectively cut grass with these? 5 mph? I'm runnin a B3200 HST and the grass will be kept short and mowed often. Would I be able to run it in H or M gear? They are supposed to have a very good cut from what I'm told. 2+ acres/ hr if its smooth sailing? Any comments/ experiences?
Thanks

I had a Chinese made RFM for awhile. I bought it only to resell at a profit. I did not intend to keep it, long term. The quality is very, very questionable and if the price is as low as these made in China units tend to be, there is a reason.

Instead, I went with an Italian product from Sweet Tractor and Equipment. They advertise here on TBN. My thread concerning this is here: Might want to take a quick read.

I have no regrets for not investing in a junky machine for long term. Buying a good mower does not cost that much more.
The cut is fantastic. I don't personally mow in High. I prefer going easier on the equipment and on me. My yard is not silky smooth.

I agree that a lot will depend on how smooth your property is. Mine is so rough that, even if my tractor was capable of mowing in high range, I wouldn't do it for fear of tearing up the equipment (and the rough ride).

I have a Buhler Farm King 84" finish mower that I pull behind my 43HP John Deere tractor. Very satisfied with it. It's made in Canada, and I've had it 7 or 8 years now. Just for fun, I tried it behind my 30 HP Kubota B7800 with HST. It did OK as long as the grass was not too high. I'd say go for it!

I have the same size Farm King Mower and I used to pull behind a 135 Massey Ferguson which is about 38 PTO HP. It pulled it very well even when the grass was high. I just bought a McCormick CT65U which I believe is about 53 PTO HP and it doesn't even know that the mower is attached. I have been very happy with the mower and think they quality is very good. I have owned it for about 10 years now with no problems. If I ever buy another mower I would definately look at another Farm King.

Thanks for the replies.......everything I have read says Buhler/Farm King is very good quality stuff. I wish it was in Kubota Orange......its Red. I think I'm going to see them tommorow and make a deal.

Hi guys,
Well I made the deal today on the Buhler/Farm King Y650R (72") RFM & a 60" Buhler blade for movin' snow. I already have it home and mowed the grass......it was wet, so it clumped a little, but I works nicely. I'm going to use it on a couple of my grass contracts. I'll add pics later.

Congrats on your purchase. I am sure you will get years of trouble free use from the implements. We have sold Buhler/Farmking for years and it is top notch equipment. Little pricey for some folks. Kinda reminds me of Tufline equipment, everyone loves it until they hear the price. Ken Sweet

Re: Think I'm buying one.......RFM - PICS UP bought it.

So here they are.......In the deal I made, I basically got the blade for free :) and paid full pop for the mower. It all depends on how you look at it. Their a bit pricey but the old saying goes "You get what you pay for". The lawn was mowed before this pic looks good to me......I scalped a wee bit on the ditch, you can see over the hood of the tractor and in the corner of the lot.
