I am looking at a 2220d and I have read many post on this site. I have not heard much about this model and was wondering if I need to pay particular attention to anything specific, to this model. I also was wondering two things. First, there are two levers on the right fender, one which I assume controlls lift and the other??? Is it a draft controll?? Second question is concerning a lever next to the brake levers. I see the foot throttle but this lever seams to go in the transmission? What does it do. Thanks all

Welcome to TBN! The 2220 is a nice tractor. I think the lever by the brake that you are referring to is the parking brake lever. Press the brakes down & push that lever to engage the parking brake.

On my 2220D, the levers to the right between the seat and the fender are controls for the 3pt. The one closest to the fender lifts and lowers the 3pt. The one closest to the seat is a draft control that, AFAIK, is intended to work only with the Yanmar tiller. Of course, if you designed and fabricated a method to mimic the tiller's control feedback you could use the draft control with any other implement you desire.

As mentioned before, a very nice little tractor. The only problems I've had with mine is having to replace the voltage regulator on two separate occasions. If it goes out again, I'm going to get serious about replacing the alternator with a one or two wire self-regulated alternator - if I can find one that will fit into the small volume available.

Dittto!!!!
I just purchased my 2220D a couple of weeks ago, and have put it through it's paces already. I purchased it to help me put in those out of the way food plots for my deer. It goes places where my old Ferguson would never go.
I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, but buying my Yanmar was one of the best moves i've made in quite awhile.

Reading the post I have determined that this tractor will supply my needs, however, I have one more question. Guy tells me it will not lift a 12" or 14" plow high enough to pull it out of the ground. I will not be working the plow much, but has anybody had this experience. My only intent is to plow a garden 30 ft X 50 ft one a year and I have a walk behind tiller to finnish it off. Will I need to purchase another plow or will the 2220d pull these 2 12" plows?

Sorry I can't answer your question as I don't use a "turning" plow anymore. I use a 5 shank renovator, which is nothing more than a box scrape without the sides and back. It will tear even new ground up pulling roots up as it goes. I then go back over it with my disc harrow. My 2220D pulls both with ease.

If you want I can measure the lift height for you. Let me know.

I've never pulled a plow with mine, so I can't respond to the comment directly. However, I can say that the lift range on my 2220D is sufficient to lift a post hole digger from the point of the head at ground level to clearing the surface by at least a foot with a 3' auger (that's a guess - never measured the ground clearance). So, at the distance the PHD is behind the lift, I'm seeing at least a 4' lift distance.

Of course attachment geometry would play a huge roll in the distance the plow could be lifted, but unless the plow is tucked in right below the lift arms, I'd be very surprised if it couldn't be lifted clear of the ground.

Tho one lever is a draft control. It has the power to lift the plow. The 3 point lift links to lift arms may need to be adjusted to raise the arms high enough.

I'm in agreement....2220 is a nice model (my personal fav is the 2420D), and should have the power and lift height (with proper adjustment) to handle your plow.
