I purchased my 1025r a couple months back and have about 20 hours on it. I did a search and most people seem to think the powergard isn't worth it and don't have many problems with their tractors.

I currently don't have a truck and would have to borrow from a friend to get it to the dealer if there is a problem and I like the security of having the warranty. If it breaks I wouldn't try to fix it and would be paying the dealer to fix anyways.

I got an email from john deere. Just curious what people's experience with the warranty and opinions. I haven't had time to read the fine print details yet, but here is their pricing.

Pricing seems good to me. Especially the multi-year plans. There are usually deductibles for any repair done during the extended warranty period. I feel the extended warranties are a good idea with the modern more complex equipment. Repairs can get pricey very quickly especially if you can't do the repairs yourself.

These extended warranties in general return them 3X what they cost them, so if its worth it to you then buy it, but in general the dealer is the only one that wins when you buy the extended warranty.
These are rock solid tractors, I would never buy an extended warranty unless I was putting extremely high hours on them. My last 3 JD's have NEVER been back to the shop for anything, so that sounds like a reliable unit to me! :)

I have a late 90's 4600 with 450 hours on it. I've put about $800 into repairs on it. Most of that was for a leaking seal around one of the front 4 wheel drive turn spindles (not sure of the exact naming), and that was 10 years after purchase.

Extended plan would have been a waste. If you bought after Jan 1 2016, you also have a 6 year power train warranty. Those numbers seem kinda high. My $15K Polaris ATV was only $900 for 54 month extension, and my ATV gets much more abuse than my tractor does.
