Tractor
New Holland 3930
I am new here but have been reading a lot from this site on my phone. I finally got my PC up and running today for the first time in months. So I decided to join the forum. So thought I would get on the site and throw this question out there.

I am trying to set-up a third function controller on a New Holland 3930 with a 7310 Ford loader. I am about to add a bolt on grapple to my tractor. I have been told that it can't be done. However I have seen it done on another 3930 with a different loader than mine! Stopped by and looked at it on the side of the road. Even took a couple of pics. However I failed to look at the controller set-up. I was too busy drooling over the quick attach grapple on that tractor.

I have found articles by this forum. Also an article by Rhinoag.com detailing how to use a kit to do the hook-up. Problem is I can't find any details on what kit they used. So far everyone agrees they have a kit to sell me right up the point of the joy stick. Or should I say the lack of a joy stick on the setup I have!!

It always the same story. All you have to do is unscrew your joystick and screw in the electric over hydraulic joystick. My loader has a 3/8" bent steel rod with a screw on knob. The rod is pinned to a single axis plate. That plate can move in four directions. Up, down, bucket curls up and down. No joystick!!

The article by rhinoag.com describes exactly what I am looking for. On page 1, step 10 describes exactly how to do the job.

It talks about a button added to the metal stick of the valve body with a single axis!! Problem is the article below says nothing about where that kit came from. Everyone I have talked to doesn't understand how to do the conversion for a third function without a joy stick and they want three times the price for what they say can't be done.

So can anyone tell me where I can find a third function kit that use a button on the handle, instead of a joystick with buttons?

Here is a diverter kit from Summit Hydraulics;
https://summit-hydraulics.com/product/hydraulic-multiplier-selector-diverter-valve-w-switch-13-gpm/

I know that the literature you have linked to calls it a 3rd function but looking at the piping connection it is functioning as a diverter.
Many of the kits will come with a new "handle" which would mount to your joystick with the switch built in.

Or I think this is the switch you are looking for;

LouNY I just went back and took a good look at your first link and I think you maybe spot on!! That controller is different from most I have seen!

I have been viewing all of this on my iphone and that little screen may have been tricking me into something else I thought I was seeing!! This controllers I have been seeing with most of the kits and on my phone it appeared to have threads at the bottom of it! In otherwords a replacement for a true joystick.

Mine is more what I described as a single axis lever, rather than a true joystick. As in this parts blowup of the controller from a Ford 7310 loader. https://spare.avspart.com/catalog/newholland/49446/5617115/129470/
From your link I see that one screwing ontop of my existing lever and locking into postion with the supplies lock nut!!

LouNY I think you have just solved my problems!! It is also cheaper than most options I have been seeing. Can you explain under options it asks wheter I want a maintained or momentary switch. Can you explain the difference?

It also asks about harness lenght, 10' 0r 20'. Am I missing something why would you need a 20' harness? My whole tractor isn't 20'!!

You wouldn't happen to have any schematics (electrical and hydraulic hose) on plumbing this whole thing out would you?? I remember seeing some attached pics on my phone. However I couldn't see them at the time because I wasn't a member.

Now I can't find those threads again. Guess I better let this go for tonight. I got church in the morning! The good Lord and the preacher seem to frown on sleeping in church!!!

Many of the various kits I have seen the handle with switch(s) clamps around the existing handle.
Kind of like a clam shell.

"Can you explain under options it asks whether I want a maintained or momentary switch. Can you explain the difference?"

Maintained would be one activation would turn the switch on and it would stay on until a second activation would turn it off.
Momentary it would be on while the switch is held and would be off when released (if a Normally Open)

"It also asks about harness lenght, 10' 0r 20'. Am I missing something why would you need a 20' harness? My whole tractor isn't 20'!!"

The easiest way to confirm the length needed is to figure out were the valve will be mounted and the switch is going to be mounted,
then run a piece of string along the choosen route allowing for and and all movement and flexing also a couple of feet on each end for terminations and who knows what, then measure the string length and add a couple of feet for just in case. You can always shorten the wiring but it can be a bit more difficult to lengthen it.

"schematics (electrical and hydraulic hose) on plumbing this whole thing "

were ever you get your valve from should have a good schematic, also Surplus center, or Summit Hydraulics usually have very good ones.

As far as sleeping in Church it seems like I used to do that quite often, got an elbow in the ribs frequently.
Also I have to admit I seldom bother going to church anymore I've gone from being very active and a Trustee to seldom going.
It seems to me that many preachers and the national boards are going out of there way to blame themselves and their members on the precieved evils and so called wrong doings of our ancestors on us and expecting us to allow ourselfs to be the whipping boys for the world.
