Freds... I agree with most here. I have been working in a garden since I was old enough for my dad to stick a hoe in my hand. No matter how much experience or what you think you know, you can always get humbled. There are no sure fired results when planting seed directly to the garden. Too many variables. If you have a bad stand, just till it in and start over. Part of the fun of a garden is trying different things.... even if that means trying them several times.
