RayIN, thanks for posting. Only thing that I would add is if in doubt, add more tiedowns.
One of my "gigs" was hauling pole barn materials, sometimes the whole kit in case of a smaller structure. In that case, I would stand the trusses upright in the middle of the deck. Posts and purlins on either side then strapped down with 4" straps. Tin on top of that with straps over the pack blocking. Leather strap protectors over all rub points. All small parts would go into a large wooden box that was returned to the yard once empty. Plastic safety fence on top of the box to prevent the wind from lifting light objects. Finally, the worst if part of the package, the windows. Windows are like eggshells. I tied them up with rope while securing the rope through either stake pockets and/or the rub rail and usually to the truss pack.
Never lost a part. Never had more than a glance by DOT.
