Tractor is a Zebra 3520. You turn a key to activate the starting system and then it has a push button start. When I push the button it just clicks most of the time. If you push it a lot it will eventually engage and start the motor. Standing by the starter I can hear the clicking, sounds like it's coming from the solenoid.

Am I correct in thinking that it's just the solenoid that needs to be replaced and not the whole starter?

Bonus points to anyone that knows where to get one.

So which one of those fit in a 3520? That one that says 3320 has a pretty big list of other model numbers in the description so it might.

Clicking of solenoid but no starter engagement could be low battery voltage, bad battery cable connection or lost amperage starter excitement wire from ign switch through safety switches all the way to "S" terminal on the solenoid. To answer correctly your tractor requires some additional diagnostics.

and the push button may be making poor contact resulting in low voltage to the solenoid. If the push button contacts are accessible, I would try bypassing that first to see if it turns over each time or still has troubles. If it goes everytime, replace push button switch (make sure to get one with correct current rating) and if it still has problems, then the solenoid would be next. Of course, before this you would have checked the cables and connections to ensure they are clean and tight.

I thought you asked about a solenoid. Did you not scroll down and see the Zetor starter solenoid?

I agree with the others. You need to jumper 12v directly to your current solenoid to see if it works. If it does, something else may have dirty contacts. Also, does your starter have 11 teeth? If so, probably the starter you saw is the one. We all just think you have not completely proven the starter or solenoid bad. Just a little more work is needed before spending money that may not be needed.

After making sure all contacts are clean on the cables. The clicking you are hearing is telling you the plunger is being sucked in. So 1/2 of the solenoid is working, the other half is the battery lead going in and out of the solenoid. Check for 12 to 14v at the battery cable at the solenoid then turn your key to start and see if 12 or 14v is coming out going to starter. No voltage out, the solenoid has be replaced or some can be taken apart and cleaned. If you have 12 to 14v out then it's the starter, repair or have it repaired. This is true as long as there is 12v in and out of the solenoid and not like 12v in and only 9v out, but the repair is the same.

This video will show you how to find the problem. Starter Voltage Drop - YouTube

Otherwise you can start buying parts and never fix it if it is a high resistance connection on one of cables.

pete your zetor came from factory with a magneton brand starter o/e number 443115144722 over time it could have been replaced with a lucas, iskra, or marelli starter. all are available and all solenoids are out there see if yours has a number or post picture especially of solenoid and bolt pattern can supply numbers for you also what part u.s. you are living can put you in touch with shop to help you

Thanks, I'm about to go try bypassing the starter button to eliminate that and testing the voltage.

Here's a pic I took of the starter the other day. The solenoid has a part number sticker on it but it's pretty much worn off, I think it still has the last two digits.
