Many thanks to all who responded. My hsband goes to the wholesale market tomorrow so today we picked alomonds together. i must confess as is usual my husband got up and got a jump start on me. I was up at 7:30 am but dilly dallied like i always do in the morning. He ws out working at 7:30 and I went on the patio and gave him a shout up the hillside that I was up out of bed. We had a very good day picking almonds, we picked 205 kilos. Plus my husband took his well deserved break for the Formula One race for 2 hours and I picked by myself. The time went so fast I was surprised when he came back and I asked him if 2 hours had really gone by. I delibrelty do not wear a watch, I live my last life at GE always watching the clock, had to get this done by a certain time, couldn't be late for that meeting etc. So when we moved to France I took off my watch and never wear one unless I am going back to the states.EddieWalker said:
We picked 41 cases of 5 kilos case so tha is enough for the Monday market which means we don't ahve to pick tomorrow in the morning, yippie! If he sells them for an average of 1.5 euros per kilo that should be 300 Euros. We are happy with that for one days work for the both of us. Today we sold a case of oive oil to a former guest who stayed at our guest house. The custoers we have who buy from our frm are very very loyal. So that was 70 Euros then yestedayr a local couple came by while I was out making a delivery and bought 2 bottles of Salonenque olive oi. The are family members of a pretty famous/popular restaurant and the restaurant owner suggeted they come by us for olive oil.
We were in the local paper this week but I never saw the article, to busy picking almonds to go into town to get the paper but our neighbor told us. We were in for the Gold/Gold/Silver/Bronze at the Los Angeles County Fair and also for the big world competition in Germany as being the best oil in France 2 oils int he Top 35 in the world and an unprecedented FOUR oils int eh top 250 in the world. Our oils alone accounted for 25% of the French medals. Many countries did not get any oil at all int he top 250 I can't remever them all but I do remember that Portugal did not get any oils in the top 250. The reporter took a picture of me sitting in front of our lavandar row holding up bottles of olive oil with the medals hanging aroudn the neck of the bottle. Tomorrow I promise I will take a picture of our bottles witht he medals it looks so cool.
We ahve friends who rented our condo in Cannes (if anyone want a SUPERB vacation rental in Cannes France PM me) and then they are coming on Wednesday and will spend one night. I am so happy we picked so many almonds today as tomorrow I need to clean the house for their Wednesday arrivival as Tuesday we will be picking almonds for Wednesday. The hosue is a disaster, dust everywhere and the floors are filhy. Thank goodness my husband does he dishes every day or it would be uninhabitable. i have the whole day tomorrow to clean with no almond picking so that will be like a ini vacation for me
Tomorrow I will take pictures and psot them. We didn't een cook tonight as I started at 8:30a and finshed at 7pm with no breaks, well a few rest breaks bt not a lunch break, so for the second time in a week we got pizza delivered. We don't irdinarly do that but during almond season we succumb.
Promise, I'll psot pics tomorrow. Oh and to everyone who has suggesteed I ear gloves I jsut don't think it is feasible. I found my aloe vera oil and in 24 hours I really get results. The nicks and wounds really are only superficial but amny many thanks for thinking of me.
