Hi Egon,
Top of the morning to you too Egon. If your weather up in the northwoods is anything like here, I imagine you are sitting around with your shorts, and sunglasses on...sipping a bubbly. The beginning of a new year is a good time to remember old friends. There sure are some dandy people that visit this site. I guess I have not had as much free time this past year, and also have had to tend to competing passions, like guns, hunting , fishing , woodworking, gardening....and the list goes on.
The deer ran into the end of my muzzleloader, and then actually ran 100 yrds across a farmer neighbor's field into a creek. Luckily, the creek which is about 40 ft wide has a sandstone gravel bottom, and the farmer keeps it cleaned with bulldozer etc. I had to drive the branson about 100 yrds thru the creek to retrieve the deer. Due to the farmer's work, there were no deep pot holes...just 8-12 inches of water. I did scoop this one up out of the water....no dragging (just had to slide it in). That's the reason this one isn't field dressed in the picture...I just retrieved it out of the water and got it home when this picture was snapped. This week I have been turning my attention to fishing. With all the warm weather here, was able to get out in the boat and managed to haul in around 70 .. mostly bluegills, and a few crappie this week.
As for the garden, it was a pretty good yr. Had to get serious about fencing though, and was able to keep the deer out...however had a serious rabbit problem. I was ok with them eating a few beans, but when they started cutting the limbs on my newly established blueberry patch, well, me and the rabbits had to come to an understanding. Got some pink lady apple trees on order for the spring planting.
Hope your cummins is still running. You need to trade it in for a new 6.7 this yr.
