This is just plain old silliness, but it reminds me of how thoughtful my bride has been over the past 24 years and to this day. She knows I read these boards several times a day, and she knows how I am looking forward to March when Thor Sr. (TC25D) arrives.

She sent away to the dealer to get this Ertl replica and had a nameplate made for it. (The plate was too big for the replica, so I made a quick base for it and attached the plate to the base before putting the replica on there. The in-laws were indignant at my heading to the shop on Christmas morning, but they ate a lot while they were here - I figure we're even.) Now I have something to look at each day (good heavens - I hope no one walks into my office while I'm turning the steering wheel and making vroom vroom noises under my breath!) and anticipate that magic day.

Am I nuts? Anybody else here get this caught up in the purchase, wait, delivery, and USE of their tractor? I'd expect the Oranges to be more likely to admit to such insanity, they seem like more the "wild and crazy" types, and the Blues seem more sedate and stately. Could be wrong though.

Life is good,

Jim

Yep, you and my cousin (who owns a TC29D) are living proof that you got it backwards./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Sniff...sniff...snifff...does anyone else smell diesel fuel in here? /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif We blues are just as crazy, but we are very good at keeping it hidden behind smug grins.

Very nice job on the model base. Maybe an opportunity for a second career./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

You're right, great play toy for the desk. Where did you get the tractor? I've got to have one of those!

Well, yeah, but you blend in well on this board. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Nuts come in all colors and sizes. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

I think that says it all. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I want one of those models! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif Way cool! Can you get accessories for them, e.g., tiny little mmm, FEL, rotary mower, etc.? I'm heading to my dealer's web site to see if they're mentioned.

As you can tell, I do not think you're nuts, or if you are, so am I! /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

BTW, it was extremely perceptive and thoughtful of your wife to buy you that model. Just when you think they're not paying attention.../w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Check with your dealer, most of them carry the Ertl scale models. Just go to most John Deere Dealers, they have a whole toy section, and after Christmas is a good time to buy them, they usually overstock and deeply discount after the holidays. I have the complete set (I think they are up to number 22 now) of the Precision Series, they are highly detailed models, complete set can be gotten for around $3,000, with several of the older ones selling in the $400 price range. The only problem is that Ertl hasn't done much in the John Deere Compacts yet and I haven't checked out the other colors. I have a 950 in 1/16 scale, added the backhoe, and bush hog at Thanksgiving. There are several web sites that carry them, just search on Ertl tractors. Collecting them can be habit forming, my son (18 years old) has over 400 of the 1/64 scale tractors, trailer trucks, implements and pickups, not to mention the array of buildings and together, not counting the precisions, have about 40 1/16 scale mostly John Deere, but some Fords and Internationals. Check them out , they are real neat.

I checked at my dealer's web site and they sell the Ertl models but none of the Boomers, which Ertl does make. I'm searching the Internet for another source.

I found a New Holland dealer nearby ABC Groff that seems to have a large selection of toys, collectibles, clothing, etc. for Deere and NH.

Best thing I can see about the model would be attaching the 3 point implements. Wouldn't need a pry bar to line things up, just use your fingers!! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
