Thought I would try mulching

I have a 1998 JD455 AWS with 60" deck & also material collection system with hydraulic dump. Wouldn't consider not having it but disposal of the clippings and hauling it on a trailer once a week during mowing season has gotten old. So I went shopping and found a Z540R at the JD dealer. Checked out a few others but decided on this one. Really like the dealer and have done business with them for over 30 years...good people. I bought the mower and ordered a BM26300 mulching kit. Mowed some before kit came in and knew I wouldn't like the side discharge for all the time. Installed the kit (took about 30 minutes). End result is I am very satisfied with the mulching this mower does. Chews up the grass into very fine particles that mostly just disappear. Also if for some reason the grass growth was to get away from me there is a lever that opens the chute for side discharge. Have not tried that as yet but you never know.

I had never been on a zero turn mower before so it took about 15 minutes to get a hold on it. It amazes me how close I get to all the obstacles and this has cut down the weed whacker trimming by more than half the time. Loading on a trailer is so much less hassle also. I got the 54" HC deck on this mower because the other yard I mow had places the tractor just couldn't get into which made me also have to haul a walk behind. Glad that is over also. This mower came with a Kawasaki (FS730V) engine that is really smooth running. I still like diesel over gas but I'm already used to this Gasser.

KC48 I bought a new mower last year I am close to turning 70 . I guess it is time to buy the nice stuff . You will really the new mower I love mine . Is this place with the 72oz. Stake still in Amarillo,

I will keep the 455, bought it new in 1998. Traded in a 430 that I wish I still had. 455 has just less than 700 hrs on it. It will still get lots of use just not loading it on a trailer weekly to mow other place.

Yep the (Big Texan) steak house is still here. Last time we were there It amazed us how many women have their picture on the wall for getting that steak with trimmings down the hatch.

I did stop at the Big Texan a time or two . I never would order the 72oz. steak I really like to enjoy my food that is just to much .

We've only eaten there once, and like you, we ordered enough to enjoy; didn't try for the big steak. We had one of our daughters and a 7 year old grandson with us (20 years ago). I was really surprised at the huge quantity of mountain oysters when I ordered them as an appetizer, but they were very good.
