Thoughts needed quick?

We have decided to get a Mahindra, honestly based on value and warranty.

I have been working with a dealer out of Oregon that has outlined what appears to be a good deal for a 2015HST.

11,750 - tractor
50 - PTO clutch
579 - brush hog
579 - auger (I have 110 post holes to dig in the near future)
349 - box scraper
13,306 - total

We have 5 acres, part of the land is a pretty good hill. We will use this unit to mow the brush, dig post holes, and general landscaping. In addition we race offshore race boats and would like to use the tractor to move the boats (10,000 pound boats).

Is the 2015 enough or do I need the 2615? In the end we will not have alot of grass that needs to be finish cut, and we have a couple of goats to keep the brush down as well.

The loader will be used to move rocks, no to mention the occassional engine or boat part on a pallet.

This group is very knowledgeable and I would love to hear from you.

I am north of you about two hours in Red Bluff and I have the 2015gear, 2015HST, 2615gear, 2615HST, 3015HST, 2310HST, 2810HST, 3510, 4110, and many more all in stock if you should want to make a fair comparison. We generally carry a few dozen of these in stock at all times.

On a post hole digger, make sure you get a really good auger, like a Pengo TriMaxx or similar. Putting a cheap bit on an auger is like sticking a bad bit in your Makita cordless. It just goes round and round and you get nothing done.

Why a PTO clutch? I assume you are meaning a PTO overrunning clutch? All the Mahindra's have built in over-running clutches. You don't need and won't want one.

Regarding moving boats, I guess that depends on the tongue weight and the terrain. If it is totally flat, I expect it wouldn't take much to move it around, but I wouldn't want to go down a hill with a 10,000 unit behind me and have to stop right away!.

The 2615 gives you an additianal range in the trans, plus it is bigger in all dimensions, uses a 60" instead of a 48" bucket, and has larger tires and an additional 100+ pounds of lift in the bucket. The 3015 is real similar to the 2615 but lifts 1350 in the bucket.

By the way, I think you are close to the Mahindra dealer in Auburn, and there is one in Galt as well. Both are closer than we are to you, and all are much closer than Oregon. Of course we must charge sales tax, unfortunately.

Hey , good luck on what Mahindra you buy . Mine is the 2810 HST . A little heavier tractor than the 15 series but I have heard a lot of good things about that series. I know a number of people that have bought them and they like the tractor. It seems to be there most popular line right now.

I was kind of thinking the same thing. The tractor will do everything you want , but may be a little light for moving 5 tons of boat.

I move trailers around in the yard with my ATV but I am very careful not to start up or down inclines .

HST machines are great for working on any hills or inclines. They are also great for hooking up to things. You will have great control over the tractor with that drive train. I live on the side of a mountain so HST was a must for me when I went looking for a tractor. I liked the 10 series backhoe subframe better than the 15 series. That is why I went with the 2810HST.

Thanks for the thoughts.

I spoke to Ernie this morning and went with the 2615HST, with RRM, 48" box blade, post hole digger with 9" auger.

Anyway, thanks for the help, we should have this by the new year.
