I'm looking for some different attachments for my skid steer and this grapple caught my eye. I know that these are frequently used to pick up brush and such for loading into the back of a truck. I certainly have a bunch of brush to move, but I was thinking of using to pick up and place rocks for a retaining wall. The grapple isn't huge, the ad says it's 33" wide closed. I don't think it has hydraulic rotate which could be a issue. I was thinking of taking a flat plate adapter and then attaching a boom to it. Maybe 6' long? I could then use the boom to mount a utility truck auger that I have and maybe use it as a short boom pole. Thoughts? It would be going on a Gehl 6635 which is rated for 2300lb.

I think it would work mounted that way. Here are some ideas from a Google Image search.

I looked at that style, but found a good deal on this one, so I got it..
