ive been looking at hayking renovators as i need to break the hard pan on the farm.so that the roots can spread an water can get into the ground.looking at getting the C3 or the C4 as either 1 of them would load the MX5100 HST down.they look like they are heavy built.

We have sold a lot of them in Tx and La, after some impressing field test results from the Texas Universities. Ken Sweet

I have a 6 shank. It takes about 100 hp and all 4 wheels pulling in some soil but average soil here I can run at 5mph with just the rear wheels pulling. Need the right moisture to get it in the ground. I found that if I could get it in the ground about 7 inches or more it does a great job. In my area that means I can run it most years in Dec.- Feb. if the ground isn't frozen. I have some fields I can run 15 inches deep. Get it set up right so the coulters cut the sod and it does pretty work. A set of bits last about 27 acres here in our soil which is sandy. To make the bits last longer I hardfaced when new and resurface again before wearing them down to low.
Hay and pasture fields here respond very well to the slits being cut in the soil. Gets the water down to the root zone and it's like putting a heavy dose of fertilizer on. It really pays off if it can be run ahead of spreading chicken litter and or wood ash that we use in this area.

Use it under the right conditions and it works great. Use it when the soil is hard and can't get it in the ground to make a smooth cut and it'll make a mess or just waste your time and fuel. When done right grass stays greener longer in drought times.

Because of health problems and just getting old I sold my cattle and no longer need the hayking. I have a neighbor that says he's going to buy it this fall. He's seen what it does and knows it'll pay to use it.
