Auto type,will drive you crazy.
This is in reference to my last post.

What I wanted to ask is do you guys think I should spray roundup, or the like, on my borders and fence lines this time of year to help me with the weeds in the spring? Will it have a residual affect in the spring to do me any good?
Sorry for the mix up on the previous post.

Glyphosate does not have the residual effect you are looking for. Wait until next spring when the weeds start growing.

Round up on fence lines = broad leaf weeds unless you are spraying all the time. The round up kills everything then the seeds that land there from all sources have nice bare dirt to germinate in. Broad leaf herbicides may be better choice as they leave the grasses.

Roundup on vegetation in the fall is very effective.... As long as it is applied before the last frost..... The systemic action sucks the glyphosate into the roots as the plant tries to store energy for the spring....

Seasonal Use
Glyphosate-based herbicides work best when the plants it is applied to are actively growing. This occurs in the spring of the year when the plant breaks dormancy and in the fall as the plant stores energy for the winter. However, glyphosate is effective against plants anytime during the growing season, and it is often easier to find proper application conditions during the summer rather than spring or fall.

Temperature Ranges
Apply glyphosate herbicides such as Roundup when air temperatures range between 60 and 85 degrees. Spring and fall seasons are often too cool for effective application.

Thank you very much for the informative post. I don't understand why people put posts on here just to be stupid. Maybe I'm being a little blunt, sorry for that, but I was taught it is better to keep quiet and be taught a fool than open your mouth and remove all doubt.
Thanks again, and thanks for the site.
