On my 4320 when I am using any three point equipment I have found an issue I would appreciate some help if anyone knows...

The three point as most of you know has numbers from 1 (completely down) to 6( full up).

When I move the lever from full up in the down direction, the entire movement takes place between 6 and 4. If using a blade or a tiller, I would like to have finer control than that. Is there an adjustment that will increase the range of the three point control lever?

Does this make any sense?

I understand what you are saying but I am not sure if you can adjust that. The reason all of the movement is between 4 and 6 is because the three point pins are usually higher on those implements. This means even when the blade is touching the ground the three point arm are still about 3/4 of the way up. Unlike a post hole digger where you need the full range of movement. I hope this helps.

Yep, that's right, and that situation has confused a lot of us in the past until we understood it.

UnclePaul, I am glad you gave that answer. I did not understand what Wooddust was asking until you answered. I was envisioning the implement hanging in the air instead of coming into contact with the ground.

I guess I got lucky in my education. My manual spoke of the lowest position on my 3pt control as being "float" and I was expecting it to act similar to the front end loader and it wasn't. My mower kept trying to burrow underground, so I asked my dealer about the 3pt float setting. He did not understand my question and responded with instructions on setting the desired mower height and adjusting the lower stop on the 3pt control. It was at that moment I realized that the 3pt had an artificial horizon where the implement could be above or below the surface and that surface point could be anywhere on the control scale depending on the implement. In my case ground level on my shredder is 3, and a 2" cutting height is just above 4.

If I had a plow attached, a proper furrow depth might be around 2, 3, or 4 depending on the share size. Lifting the share above the ground might be 5 or 6. The numbers have no set meaning except in relation to the implement and it relationship to ground level.

Sometimes, as I age, I make simple stuff really hard.

The three point works perfect. Adjustment is across the entire range of movement of the lever. Just didnt think about the implement restricting the movement. OK, Its hot, Im old, and now I will not worry about silly things that are fine that I screw up in my head.

Or as they say....nevermind.
